Hes Our Vinnieb16
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-11| J: D E Splaine| T: T O'Brien| OR:  101| D
14/1
Back from a long layoff at Punchestown last month, but he jumped woefully there, and he hit the deck next time at Galway. One to have reservations about at present.
2
Horse silk
Instant Smile241
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-8| J: A McCurtin(5)| T: J J Walsh| OR:  98
20/1
Lightly raced, but did manage to win a weak 2m6f maiden hurdle at Limerick in March 2016. No show in four starts over fences under rules, but improvement possible on handicap debut.
3
Horse silk
Moonlone Lanep324
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-7| J: A E Lynch| T: P Stafford| OR:  97| C
14/1
Hasn't seen all that much racing in the past couple of years, but hurdles or fences, he's a proven winner. 6lb higher than when beating Paper Lantern by 1L at Down Royal on Boxing Day 2016.
4

Dinnie's Vinniep33
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-6| J: L P Dempsey| T: J P Dempsey| OR:  96| CD
5/1
A two time winner over fences in 2017, including last month at Downpatrick (2m7f+ yielding). Up 6lb for his ½L defeat of Ard Cregg.

Old Time Melodyp,t8
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: K J Brouder(7)| T: T Cooper| OR:  92| CD
20/1
Remains a maiden over fences after ten previous attempts. Beaten just ½L by Fenlon's Hill over 2m5f here in early October (good to yielding), but he's not backed that up since.
6
Horse silk
Witness Of Fashionp8
Age: 11|  Weight: 11-0| J: C D Maxwell| T: P Rooney| OR:  90| C| D
13/2
Three of his four career successes over fences have come at this track, and he's been given a 6lb rise for beating Poormans Hill by a neck (The Bay Birch third) over 2m5f here latest.
7
Horse silk
Buzzkillbob16
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: M J Bolger| T: S Byrne| OR:  88| D
12/1
3m point-to-point winner (November 2016) who was beaten 22L by today's rival Tomcoole Lad when a runner up on his handicap debut at Galway last month (2m6f+ heavy).
8
Horse silk
Jonathan Wild83
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-12| J: R P Treacy(5)| T: E McNamara| OR:  88
33/1
A 22 race maiden who has made no obvious progress for the switch to fencing, and therefore is safely ignored.
9
Horse silk
The Bay Birch8
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Danny Mullins| T: F J Flood| OR:  88
6/1
Mare who has had 18 previous attempts under rules to break her duck. However, her most recent efforts are respectable, and she could well reverse placings with recent course conqueror Witness of Fashion on 3lb better terms.
10
Horse silk
Chase The Clouds39
Age: 9|  Weight: 10-11| J: Phillip Enright| T: R Tyner| OR:  87| D
16/1
Held little chance on either of his two chasing starts under rules, but this dual point-to-point winner should be more effective in this company, albeit with significant improvement still necessary.
11
Horse silk
Diggin Deep17
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-10| J: P D Kennedy(3)| T: M McCullagh| OR:  86
11/1
His form figures over fences (rules and point-to-points) are none too encouraging. An 11 race hurdles maiden, so tough to consider.
12
Horse silk
Erkindale Ladyp20
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-10| J: J J Slevin(3)| T: Miss M M Gannon| OR:  86
14/1
A 17 race career maiden (0 from 7 over fences). Her best effort came over 2m2f at Clonmel in late September when fourth (beaten approx 1L) by Billy De Kid. Stamina to prove.
13
Horse silk
Tomcoole Ladt8
Age: 13|  Weight: 10-6| J: Brian Hayes| T: R Donohoe| OR:  82
6/1
Old boy who has shown this year that he's no back number with a couple of successes, including when demolishing Buzzkillbob by 22L at Galway in late October (2m6f+ heavy). Unseated at the first here latest when seeking to defy an 8lb rise.
14
Horse silk
Ard Creggp16
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-4| J: Donagh Meyler| T: V T O'Brien| OR:  80
12/1
Beaten ½L by Dinnie's Vinnie at Downpatrick last month, and renews rivalry on 4lb better terms. However, she is a most infrequent career winner and has plenty to find with Tomcoole Lad on her latest start.
15
Horse silk
Night Sirp18
Age: 11|  Weight: 9-12| J: Rachael Blackmore| T: Ms H P Markham| OR:  74| D
16/1
Still seeking his first career success under rules (dual point-to-point winner in 19 starts), and looks safely held by both Witness of Fashion and The Bay Birch unless first time cheek-pieces work a miracle.
16
Horse silk
Town Pond166
Age: 11|  Weight: 9-12| J: M A Enright| T: Peter L Kavanagh| OR:  74
33/1
Won just once in 29 starts under rules (back in 2015), and returns to action for the first time since June on a continual slide down the weights.

Verdict

An open handicap chase, in which the whole complexion of the market could change should the First Reserve Flynsini be granted a run. However, if not, the form horse is probably DINNIE'S VINNIE. He is up 6lb for his Downpatrick success and whilst strictly on weights and measures Ard Cregg should reverse those placings, that has to be considered most unlikely given her overall very moderate win ratio. The form overall has been boosted by the third placed horse Mullaghmurphy Blue winning at Musselburgh, and the sixth placed horse Tomcoole Lad (lines up today) producing the goods in a 22L romp at Galway late last month.
  1. Dinnie's Vinnie
  2. Tomcoole Lad
  3. The Bay Birch
