Highly tried over hurdles for much of last season, shaped with some promise on reappearance and will strip fitter for that. C&D winner in heavy ground last January and has to be high on the shortlist for this.
Can be a bit keen in his races but looked useful when winning at Leicester in heavy ground last year. Jury is still out as to whether fences will bring out improvement in him this year but conditions fine, and chances with a clear round.
Superb jumper of a fence on his day and although wins have come right-handed, effective this way around too. On a fair mark if fit for reappearance here, handles this ground and can't be discounted easily.
Winner at the first time of asking over fences at Ffos Las in June, jumping well from the front and finding enough to hold on in a driving finish. This is tougher, and yard form is patchy at present, so needs to improve again, but not ruled out.
Yard starting to find a bit of form after a slow start, so that's a positive, and he's starting to come back down to a more workable mark after a few middling efforts. Trip and ground ideal and a better effort here no surprise.
Has been tried in a few tough-looking handicaps over the past year, and may find this a little easier. Handicapper has cut him a bit of slack as well and with no trip or ground worries, is another to consider in a tricky event.
Used to be a bit of a tearaway, but those tactics have been curtailed recently. As a result, some moderate efforts but mark has fallen accordingly and he's dangerously well handicapped now. Watch the market for a clue.
Not been seen for a year and a half and the handicapper has given him a chance accordingly (only 1lb higher than last win). May not want the ground too deep though so will need it to continue to dry out, and others preferred.
Has some classy handicap form to his name when on song, and was noted doing some good late work at Worcester on his reappearance last month. On a very good looking mark now and with trip and ground to suit, looks a player.
Forecasts
Crievehill (7/2), Get Rhythm (4/1), Un Prophete (5/1), Big Jim (7/1), Allee Bleue (7/1), De Faoithesdream (8/1), Red Devil Star (9/1), Keel Haul (16/1), The Green Ogre (16/1)
Plenty of these hold chances on the best of their form, and it's a case of which one is going to bounce back today. KEEL HAUL shaped nicely on his reappearance at Worcester last month and is simply too well handicapped to ignore in a race of this nature. Similar comments apply to De Faoithesdream and some money for him pre-race might suggest that a return to front-running tactics (that seem to suit him best) may be on the cards. Un Prophete represents a yard going a bit better now and could take the bronze.
- Keel Haul
- De Faoithesdream
