Handicapper is relenting and giving him a chance and he's already dropped 11lb in the handicap this year although he continues to show little. First-time visor (retained here) didn't really help last time and this is his first try on this surface.

A winner over hurdles for this yard earlier in the year he's yet to show the same form on the Flat despite a declining mark. Shows little sign of taking advantage though but he has won on this surface and can't be totally written off.

Still without his headgear that he's worn for his last two wins he may still be feeling his way on just his second start for this yard. He's down to a handy mark now (dropped 2lb from first yard run) and showed up well last time and has won here; interesting.

Winner on the AW (Wolverhampton) earlier in the year off a mark of 83 he looks to be well handicapped here and is starting to looks as though he's found his level. Second on his only previous try here (1m4f) he stays well and must have a chance.

Came to the Flat later in life having been a winning hurdler although he's yet to win on the level. Has proved to be consistent though although he's been beaten off this mark the last twice and this will be his first run on this surface.

C&D winner off a 7lb lower mark who took a step back in the right direction last time at Wolverhampton but still faces a tough enough test here. Cheekpieces go back on but off this mark a place may be the best he can do.

Fell over hurdles last time out on his first run since leaving Michael Bell having quickly gone off the boil in his Flat runs for that yard. Only win remains his debut maiden win when with Aidan O'Brien and makes his first Fibresand start here.

Forecasts

Sleep Easy (11/4), Hurricane Hollow (10/3), Gabrial's Star (4/1), Rite To Reign (5/1), Bertie Moon (15/2), Ruler Of The Nile (17/2), Giant Redwood (66/1)

Verdict

This will be a stamina sapping contest and the run that BERTIE MOON had last time out will have brought him on and it’s rather a surprise that he hasn’t run here more having already won on the surface. He looks well handicapped now travelled well last time and the Mick Appleby yard are no stranger to success around here. Gabrial’s Star is another who looks well handicapped and he’s coped with this surface before as has Sleep Easy although he’ll have to come back to his previous form. Hurricane Hollow and Ruler Of The Nile give some depth to the race which has a competitive feel to it.
  1. Bertie Moon
  2. Gabrial's Star
  3. Ruler Of The Nile
