Finished sixth of nine on debut to Donna's Delight over 2m3f+ here last month. Dropped in trip for his second career start.
£200,000 purchase (February 2016) who should feel the benefit of a recent run over C&D (soft), finishing 12L fourth of 12 to Slanelough. Capable of an improved showing on just his second start over hurdles.
Lost his place from halfway on hurdles debut over C&D last month when finishing seventh of 12 to Slanelough, and held by Cesar Collonges based upon that effort.
Has slowly improved for the switch to hurdles, and was still travelling well when unseating his rider at the fourth last at Newcastle in March (2m heavy). Needs more on his seasonal bow, and of more interest once sent handicapping.
Failed to see out his race on hurdles debut at Hexham last month (2m maiden good), and makes no appeal judged upon either of his previous starts in bumpers.
Previously with Oliver Sherwood, but sold for £11,000 in August 2017. Makes his hurdles debut for his new trainer having finished 16¼L third to the classy Lalor in a Wincanton bumper in March.
Formerly trained by James Ewart (in bumpers), and finished 31L third for his new trainer on his hurdles debut at Sedgefield last month (2m1f good to soft) when justifiably no match for the exciting Ravenhill Road.
A five time winner on the Flat (upto 1m4f), but has shown only limited promise in a couple of starts over hurdles. Worthy of a glance in the market on seasonal bow having come over from Ireland.
Purchased for £27,000 in April following his sole start in an Irish point-to-point; 8L runner up to Templepark (3m Kirkistown, March 2017). His dam was placed over hurdles (2m), so whilst stronger over further, should cope with this trip.
Left Gavin Cromwell following a ready 13L success in a Perth bumper in August (beat Handy Hollow). Didn't quite get home despite a pleasing effort on hurdles/stable debut at Kelso last month (2m maiden, good), and should be stronger now.
A reasonable Flat performer (five time winner) who has no real problems on soft ground. Makes her hurdles debut for a trainer who saddled a winner at Musselburgh last week, and could go well assuming she's not found wanting for stamina.
Forecasts
Canny Style (9/4), Cesar Collonges (7/2), Spin The Coin (6/1), Le Drapeau (7/1), Colt Lightning (15/2), Vino's Choice (8/1), Cyrano Star (20/1), Porto Du Sud (22/1), Captain Black (40/1), Shalaman (40/1), Farocco (125/1)
Runners from the stable of Evan Williams are generally stronger for a race, and CESAR COLLONGES returns to Carlisle less than a month after finishing a reasonable fourth of 12 to Slanelough. He needs to kick on from that effort in order to start paying back some of his lofty price tag (£200,000 purchase), but time is still on his side, and whilst most likely stronger over further with time, this contest shouldn't take all that much winning. Other possible realistic alternatives to the selection include Spin The Coin and Vino's Choice.
- Cesar Collonges
- Vino's Choice
- Spin The Coin
