Fortunate winner of a Punchestown hurdle and dead-heated in a Kilbeggan bumper. Both those efforts were on good ground and he has been below par on softer surfaces more recently. Handicap mark seems attractive enough and he may be one for later on.
Scored over C&D in the spring to land his fist race in over four years. Some good efforts in defeat have not helped his mark during the summer. Has been found wanting in more competitive races lately and he looks weighted out of this.
Landed a 3m chase during the Listowel festival but well beaten in two starts since over fences. Made a valiant bid to make all on his last start over hurdles when just behind Seskinane. Likes heavy ground but just 1-19 over timber.
Gained his ninth success under rules when picking up a Sligo 3m handicap hurdle in August. Not disgraced under a penalty next time and should get the true gallop he needs with Icantsay in the lineup.
Has shown some ability over hurdles and in bumpers. Looks in need of a test such as this and his Naas fifth behind Morgan in February has him on a good mark here. Would be one to monitor in the market.
The fitting of cheekpieces and a longer trip helped him to his first victory on his sixth start over hurdles. Won with something to spare and a 7lb rise seems fair enough.
Continues to hold his form following his summer hat-trick. Good effort at Down Royal last week and should be thereabouts again despite a rise in class. New headgear combination is experimented with.
Record of 4-42 and winless since September 2015. Not a bad effort last time but tailed off in two previous races over C&D.
Originally fetched 390,000 gns as a yearling and is only just starting to show some ability. Won a handicap on the Flat at Fairyhouse recently and won a 2m4f hurdle there in April for which he was heavily penalised. More realistically treated now.
Not sighted at long odds on all seven career starts. Handicapper is cautiously cutting him some slack but there is probably a way to go yet. Hard to imagine what improvement first-time blinkers will bring, but new trip should help.
Forecasts
Swingbridge (3/1), Aa Bee See (10/3), Icantsay (9/2), Carrigready (11/2), Seskinane (8/1), Sir Ector (8/1), Two In One (14/1), Ben Brody (16/1), Archie Meade (20/1), There Was A Time (33/1)
CARRIGREADY won with some authority last time and the handicapper has given him a chance to follow up given his scope for further improvement. Two In One is potentially well handicapped on some pieces of form and looks interesting, whilst Swingbridge should give another good account. Aa Bee See arrives having won on the Flat recently and with the handicapper realising he may have overdone things when raising him 18lb for a victory in April.
- Carrigready
