Coastal Tiep^p³⁰

Age: 5| Weight: 11-5| J: S Bowen| T: P F Nicholls| OR: 139

15/8

A winner on his initial start in all three disciplines bumper/hurdle/chase with his chase win coming recently at Exeter over 3m. Briefly looked in trouble in that race but eventually ran out a ready winner (idled in front); not totally straightforward.

Form: 14234-1

Captain Chaos^b1²⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR: 132

7/2

Has had some stiff tasks over fences having looked as though he would be better in this sphere. Might have needed the run last time in a race that is proving good form (first and third won next time) but a little more needed at these weights.

Form: 12/43F-6

Clondaw Cian²⁴⁰

Age: 7| Weight: 11-0| J: Tom Cannon| T: Miss S Smith| OR: 135

11/2

Looked a very good prospect when winning on his seasonal reappearance last year taking a good handicap hurdle off a mark of 130. Failed to go on from that though in three starts (tried in cheekpieces); chase debut with question mark on him.

Form: 22/1850-

Geordie Des Champs^t1¹⁹⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: B J Geraghty| T: Miss R Curtis| OR: 140| C

7/4

Won one of his three novice hurdles here over 2m4f and again shaped well (after a break) back here in a big-field handicap in the spring. Not seen since April his form has been up-and-down but still remains with potential.

Form: 112630-

Forecasts

Geordie Des Champs (7/4), Coastal Tiep (15/8), Captain Chaos (7/2), Clondaw Cian (11/2)

Hard to rule out any of the four here with the field evenly split between those with chasing experience and those making their debut. Coastal Tiep might not be straightforward but he does look to have ability in this sphere and despite the penalty is expected to go close here. Both Captain Chaos and Clondaw Cian have underperformed last year although neither can be written off easily in this. GEORDIE DES CHAMPS makes his chasing debut here but he has shown a liking for this track over hurdles and on official ratings has the slight edge here and may be able to make a winning debut.
