Winner of four races over hurdles, she makes her chasing bow off her handicap mark over timber. Assuming she takes to fences, she is likely to be a player.

Lightly-raced maiden hurdle winner, has struggled in both handicaps since justifying long odds-on to score at Doncaster in April. Goes chasing now with plenty questions to answer.

13/8
Peak rating of 139 over hurdles, including Listed success at Kempton over extended 3m a year ago. Off since February but an obvious contender for honours if taking to fences.

Just two starts under rules and the mare ran a pleasing race at Exeter in December over 2m1½f (soft) when third in a mares' novice chase. Should be suited by this longer trip and capable of putting that experience to good use if fully wound up.

Positively thrived over timber for this trainer last season after spending 619 days in the wilderness. Won three of five starts, runner-up up in other two, culminating in Class 2 handicap success over 3m at Cheltenham in April. Not taken lightly.

Forecasts

Surtee Du Berlais (13/8), Two Swallows (11/4), Miss Crick (10/3), Tacenda (9/2), Sheneededtherun (20/1)

Verdict

An open heat, Surtee Du Berlais was a Listed winner over hurdles and looks very capable of a big say if taking to this discipline first time while chasing debutante Two Swallows also showed fair ability over the smaller obstacles last season off a long layoff and merit consideration. Likewise, Miss Crick holds solid credential if transferring hurdles form across. TACENDA is taken to make experience count however. She ran well in a decent mares' novice chase at a year ago and has plenty scope to do better on just her third start under rules, with Noel Fehily an assured presence in the saddle.
  1. Tacenda

  3. Surtee Du Berlais
