Stable have yet to quite get going although this one is a C&D winner (capitalised on a falling mark) to score in March. His rather patchy career record is a worry though and he didn't show much on his recent return at Chepstow.
Current handler has done well to rejuvenate him over the summer with back-to-back wins at Uttoxeter the highlight. Remains in form and ran well last time over a shorter trip where today's rider was rather caught out tactically; travels well.
Always hard to rule out around here where she has won four times and looked as good as ever last time when winning here over hurdles. Took advantage of her lower hurdles mark and will find this tougher back over fences off 5lb higher.
Rather reluctant individual who returned to form out of the blue last time over 2m4f at Wincanton jumping and travelling well for a decisive win. Has often flattered to deceive and no banker to follow up that form off an 8lb higher mark.
Has winning bumper and hurdles form to his name but his chasing debut didn't go to plan and was disappointing. Now has a tongue-tie added to the hood he wore at Worcester but will need to settle and jump better to take a hand.
The addition of a hood appeared to prove the catalyst to some improved form when landing back-to-back handicap chases at Ffos Las. Two of his three subsequent runs have shown that he can be competitive off this mark; jumping isn't fluent though.
Very lightly-raced over fences winning on his debut last summer but only seen once over fences after that in a Cheltenham handicap (unlucky to unseat rider). Recent hurdles form hasn't been that encouraging though and not the most straightforward.
Forecasts
Orbasa (9/4), Still Believing (9/2), Cut The Corner (5/1), Monbeg Charmer (6/1), Marcilhac (6/1), Super Scorpion (7/1), Mr Shantu (12/1)
There is no doubting that Orbasa was impressive last time and stormed clear to win at Wincanton but he’s no banker to follow-up and he’s likely to start at a fairly short price here. Still Believing is always to be respected around here and will go close to improving a chase record here that reads P341232. Both Monbeg Charmer and Super Scorpion will need to jump better than they have of late and back over a more suitable trip CUT THE CORNER is given a chance to maintain his good form since joining this yard. His amateur rider will need to be a little more alive to tactics this time but this strong travelling sort looks ideal for the sharp Ludlow circuit.
- Cut The Corner
- Still Believing
