Handsome Dan40
Age: 11|  Weight: 12-0| J: Mitchell Bastyan(5)| T: Sarah Hollinshead| OR:  122
5/1
Had the race run to suit when finishing runner-up at Market Rasen in his last start and a 5lb rise for that looks rather harsh. Has appeared rather hard to win with though and this mark will prove a challenge.

Allbarnone164
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-12| J: Thomas Garner(3)| T: G Hanmer| OR:  120
16/1
Makes his first start for this yard having produced a rare below-par effort for his former yard last time out. Has shown most of his best form around Cartmel and looks to have work to do off a mark that is 7lb above his last win.

Little Chunkt1185
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-10| J: M Hamill(5)| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls| OR:  118
4/1
Starts out with a new yard having won back-to-back maiden and novice races in the sprung. Switched to handicaps he was quickly put in his place off a 2lb higher mark after jumping poorly and now back from a break.

Boy In A Bentleyp,t37
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-9| J: Harry Reed(7)| T: N P Mulholland| OR:  117
13/2
Had appeared to be a serial loser but finally got off the mark at Cartmel in late summer and managed to follow-up getting both decisions in tight finishes. Reverted to type last time with a dismal display and clearly still not one to trust.

Muthabir32
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-9| J: Ian Popham| T: R T Phillips| OR:  117| D
10/1
Consistent for the most part with his last win coming in the spring off a 2lb lower mark and has returned from his summer break in reasonable form. Never looks the easiest though and this mark appears to be a tough one.
6
Horse silk
Quieto Sol278
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-6| J: J J Burke| T: C E Longsdon| OR:  114
8/1
Off the mark on his handicap debut at Exeter and has run with credit without winning in all of his starts since. Proved that he could stay trips like this at least at speed favouring tracks and makes some appeal returning from a break.
7
Horse silk
Veranop1,t9
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-5| J: David England| T: O Greenall & J Guerriero| OR:  113
33/1
Due to drop a further 6lb in future races and hard to find much encouragement in his recent stable debut after a break of around two years. Best watched here.

Sam Noirp1,t71
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: J E Moore| T: P & M Bowen| OR:  110| BF
8/1
Bumper winner who looked a potential improver when winning on his handicap debut although he hasn't really progressed as expected. Has looked as though 3m plus would suit him and may find everything happening too quickly here; cheekpieces now tried.

Primo Blue302
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: Noel Williams| OR:  110
20/1
Some of his novice form has suggested that he may be able to show more that he has so far when switched to handicaps. Ran his best race last time out at Taunton in January (100/1; not knocked about) and interesting on handicap debut back from a break.

Tempuran8
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-0| J: Charlie Hammond(7)| T: A Ralph| OR:  108
8/1
Onto his third stable of the year but apart from one poor Flat outing he run with credit in most of his starts without looking a winner in waiting. This will be his third start for this yard and he remains 6lb above his last winning mark.

Horse silk
Lerichi Bellee/s,h136
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Harry Stock(7)| T: M Keighley| OR:  106
10/1
The hood and eyeshield combination is tried again on this mare who consistently ruins her chance in races by running too freely. Until she learns to settle in her races she can't really be considered.

Mr Mafia26
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-8| J: Lee Edwards| T: A W Carroll| OR:  102
10/1
Can be a little hard to get a handle on over fences and hurdles although he did cash in on his lower hurdles mark at Stratford in August. Fell when still going well enough last time over fences and now back under his last winning rider.

Forecasts

Little Chunk (4/1), Handsome Dan (5/1), Boy In A Bentley (13/2), Tempuran (8/1), Quieto Sol (8/1), Sam Noir (8/1), Muthabir (10/1), Lerichi Belle (10/1), Mr Mafia (10/1), Allbarnone (16/1), Primo Blue (20/1), Verano (33/1)

Verdict

Quite a few of these need to bounce back to form and have either run poorly last time or now feature off marks that are a little too high. QUIETO SOL doesn’t have that problem and this consistent sort comes from a yard that do well here and his strong travelling style should be suited by the topography of this track. Handsome Dan figures off a challenging mark and Sam Noir may find things happening a little too quickly around here. Mr Mafia is rather an in-and-out character but he could take a hand back over hurdles while kid gloves will be required to get Boy In A Bentley to pop his head in front. If there is a dark one in the race them it’s the handicap debutante Primo Blue who has shown some promise in novice hurdles and looks the sort who could do better in handicaps so watch the market for clues with him.
  1. Quieto Sol
  2. Primo Blue
  3. Handsome Dan
