£13,000 purchase in August. Half-brother to 7f/1m4f winner Chesterfield, out of a 7f/1m Listed winner, whose grandam is an Irish 1,000 Guineas winner. Nice pedigree, though stable has just one juvenile win this year, so one to watch on debut.
Full-brother to winners Cohesion (1m2f-1m4f) and Marmot (7f-1m2f), out of 7f AW two-year-old winning half-sister to 1m1f Group 3 winner Phoenix Tower. Stable 11% with turf juveniles and should be capable of giving a good account.
55,000gns foal. First foal of 1m AW winning juvenile who went on to score at 1m2f, out of unraced half-sister to 1m Group 2 winner Independence, from family of Reference Point. Top yard is 17% in this sphere, so a market check is advised.
Has recorded two similar efforts over 6f (good to soft) at Haydock and Nottingham, both of which suggested that this extra furlong would suit. Stable just a little quiet of late, but market check suggested in case improvement anticipated.
Runner-up here over C&D on debut, albeit it beaten 7L and bettered that on the Tapeta at Newcastle (7f) last time when he could have finished a bit closer but for a bit of traffic. Capable of better and should be a leading player.
Second foal of a 1m½f AW winner, out of 7f and 7¾f juvenile-winning half-sister to top class 1m-1m4f performer Azamour and juvenile 7f Group 2 winner Arazan. Lovely pedigree and yard can have two-year-old success, so market check suggested.
Third foal of a 1m4f winner in Guernsey, half-sister to 6f winner Alegria and 1m6f Fibresand Banded winner Brother Cadfael. Stable without juvenile success for several seasons and others make more appeal.
The most experienced entrant, who has shown improved form in his last couple of starts at Hamilton (6f, good to soft) and Haydock (5f, heavy). Now steps up in trip and pedigree suggests that may be more to come, though clearly vulnerable.
Forecasts
Knighted (15/8), Up Sticks And Go (11/4), Mametz Wood (10/3), Diplomacy (17/2), Indian Admiral (12/1), Camden Town (16/1), Naval Officer (66/1), No Civil Justice (150/1)
Up Sticks And Go looks the one to beat on racecourse form, while Mametz Wood is another who should give a good account, though the suggestion is to take a chance on the newcomer DIPLOMACY, who is a full-brother to a couple of winners and may be able to make a winning debut. Indian Admiral is another to keep an eye on in the market, while Knighted looks a potential improver.
- Diplomacy
- Up Sticks And Go
- Mametz Wood
