Has looked a totally different horse since fitted with a tongue-tie winning both his starts with that headgear fitted. Has jumped well both times making the running although he'll have to cope with an 8lb higher mark.
Failed to match his previous chasing form last year but shaped better than his finishing position on a few occasions. Has won here and now starts life with a new trainer off a falling mark; chance if ready to roll.
First run for this new yard having been sold out of the Lavelle yard for £6,000 having seemingly lost his way. Still 5lb above his last winning mark though and may well be best watched this time around.
Back to some sort of form when running over fences for the first time in three years at Wetherby in March. Ran with credit in one run after that and had tune-up on the Flat recently and although unreliable not totally written off here.
Overall a rather disappointing sort who despite that is becoming well handicapped but is hard to rely on. Not disgraced last time out in an easier event at Kelso but no banker to build on that outing.
Took a while to get going last year displaying some decent form when he did though despite not winning. Can cope with this trip (usually runs over further) but on past evidence he may need this run to bring him on.
Looks to come alive at this venue (best hurdles run here also) and won back-to-back races over fences late last year off lowly marks (first win off a long break). Ran with credit afterwards off this mark but will face pace pressure here.
Has shown his best form at Kelso and improved last time out there to take a weak handicap chase there over 3m making the transition into handicaps. Raised just 4lb for that win this will be tougher but does have fitness on his side.
Forecasts
The Cobbler Swayne (6/4), Onderun (11/2), Havana Jack (6/1), Harry Hunt (13/2), Nakadam (7/1), Voyage A New York (12/1), Titian Boy (12/1), The Orange Rogue (16/1)
There are a few in this that are capable of a sound showing on their old form although some of them may well need the run in what are sure to be testing conditions. The Cobbler Swayne is interesting off this mark if he is ready to go and he should be watched in the betting. With Titian Boy and The Orange Rogue in field this should be run at a good pace although they are stable mates and unlikely to take each other on. Nakadam generally needs his first run of the season and this may be a little on the short side for him and with Havana Jack likely to find this a bit too tough a chance is taken with HARRY HUNT. He’s not the most reliable but does travel well and his recent Flat runs may well have been to get him ready for this.
- Harry Hunt
- The Orange Rogue
- The Cobbler Swayne
