Bumper win came back in 2015 (decent performance) although the start to her hurdling career was rather ordinary and lacked progress. Finally started to show something in this sphere last time out; may be better right-handed (jumps right).

Debut effort in bumpers didn't really promise much but she improved to win a Sedgefield bumper having looked to have leant plenty from her debut. Still looked inexperienced in that win but showed a good attitude; hurdles debut.

Four bumpers but failed to show much in any of them really taking a strong hold last time and failing to settle. Now makes her hurdles debut with plenty of improvement needed and not sure to show any.

The more fancied of the duo that the trainer runs here having won a bumper on her debut when with Keith Dalgleish. Ran one decent run after the win before being far too free last time and returns from a break for her hurdles debut.

Four hurdles run have yet to really produce an effort that says she can win this and reverts to novice grade after producing a very laboured effort on handicap debut. Inconsistency makes her hard to recommend in here.

Four runs in bumpers only showed the odd glimmer of promise (surprisingly well backed last time). Now goes hurdling for the first time but hardly has the most convincing profile.

Has shown some ability on the Flat (fair while ago) and wasn't disgraced on her first outing for this yard before falling in handicap hurdle debut last time. Has to be able to cope with the ground here but not totally out of this.

Bumper form is overall only moderate with the bare 2m looking far too sort and she'll only be able to show more over staying trips. Makes her hurdles debut and it be a surprise to see her make an impact.

Forecasts

Cockley Beck (7/4), Hermanus (9/4), Boogie Life (6/1), Miss Tiggy (8/1), Speedbird One (9/1), Western Lass (16/1), Northern Girl (25/1), Green Tikkana (80/1)

Verdict

Not a particularly deep event to open a good card with most if not all the field destined for handicaps in the future some over further. Boogie Life looked to be getting the hang of things last time but she does jump right and may be better going the other way around. Hermanus is on debut for the Ewart barn but she needs to settle better to be seen at her best with Miss Tiggy needing to show far more after a poor effort last time. Speedbird One may prove best of the outsiders but this looks best left to Sedgefield bumper winner COCKLEY BECK. She showed a good attitude when winning last time out and comes from a yard with a good record in this sphere at the track and is taken to make a winning hurdles debut.
  1. Cockley Beck
  2. Boogie Life
  3. Hermanus
