Both his hurdling wins came on soft ground and his better form has been with some cut in the ground, which is a concern for this chasing debut. Mark looks fair based on his best hurdling efforts and he is sure to be well schooled. Check the market.

Yet to win a race but put up some decent efforts in defeat in novices' hurdles and always looked the type to make into a nice chaser. Another whose best form so far has been with cut in the ground, so has a little to prove on his debut over fences.

Was a consistent performer over hurdles and got due reward for that when winning here (2m1f, good) in April. Has the potential to make more progress over fences and his trainer is likely to have him ready to put up a big effort on his chase debut.

Without a win since 2014 and frustrating to follow. Has now been second in three of his four chases and was only just run out of it at Kempton last time, so from the same mark he is very much respected, though also vulnerable.

Acts on good, although would probably prefer it to be on the easy side. Won when fresh this time last year over hurdles but lost her way a bit and now returns to tackle fences from a 4lb lower mark than her latest hurdling run. Market check advised.

Inconsistent over hurdles last season but did win two of his five starts for Oliver Greenall. Now resumes for new yard for his chasing debut and does not look to have been done any favours by the handicapper.

Sole win so far was on fast ground at Chepstow in April in a 2m hurdle. Tackles fences for the first time today and will probably need to be at his best to make an impact from this mark. Looks best watched this time.

Well beaten in all six runs in bumpers and over hurdles. Pedigree suggests he will need a fair bit further than this if he is to come close to winning over fences and he is another for whom a watching brief looks sound advice this time.

Forecasts

Volt Face (11/8), Crackdeloust (2/1), Robbing The Prey (15/2), Beggar's Wishes (10/1), Gris De Pron (14/1), Kalaniti (16/1), Burrenbridge Hotel (28/1), Grow Nasa Grow (100/1)

Verdict

CRACKDELOUST looked a nice chaser in the making last season and he can now begin to deliver on that promise in a race that carries his trainer's name. Robbing The Prey may well emerge as a serious danger, although he would ideally prefer slower ground. Volt Face is the most experienced chaser in the field and a win would not surprise, although he keeps finding something to beat him, while Beggar's Wishes is unlikely to be making this trip for the travel experience, although he too would be better placed if the ground turned softer.
