Hurdling debutant whose bumper form has gradually deteriorated. Nice pedigree but needs to arrest his apparent decline.
3

Beaten a long way on debut but stable had a big priced winner on Sunday and he looks the type to improve.
4
Horse silk
20/1
Winning point-to-pointer who appeared not to get home over 2m3f last time. That was another improved performance and he has each-way possibilities.
€30,000 son of Beneficial who made an eyecatching debut here in March when just outstayed by a fitter rival. Finished well clear of the third and should have little difficulty in winning one of these.
Winning point-to-pointer who finished a fair third at Tipperary last month. Outpaced in the closing stages that day and he may do better over further in due course.

Beat little in a Knockanard point-to-point but still recorded a good time. Makes hurdling debut with his yard in good form.

Represents a yard that have landed the last two renewals of this contest. Needs to step up considerably though if he is to maintain that record as he is beginning to look moderate.

Ordinary form in point-to-points and made little impression here in June on his hurdling debut. Off the track since and hard to recommend.

Pulled up in all three point-to-points and yet to set the pulse racing on both hurdling starts this autumn.

Won a modest point-to-point earlier in the year but not disgraced on either start over hurdles this term. May have something to offer over further and when sent handicapping.

Encouraging signs on debut here a month ago and would not need to improve by much for the experience to prove hard to beat.

6/4
Runner-up on first run for two years at Downpatrick over 2m3f. That was a quickly run contest in which he set the pace for a long way. Interesting down in trip for a yard with a 40% strike rate here with hurdlers, but needs to brush up his jumping.

11/1
Point-to-point winner on heavy ground at Durrow in early 2016. Appeared in need of the run on his hurdling debut last month but also gave the impression he would need further.

Third here in February when unfancied but has not reproduced that effort in three subsequent starts. Hood fitted after a particularly disappointing run last time.

100/1
No show in two bumpers and chances are far from obvious on hurdling debut for a yard who are 2-65 with hurdlers since 2013.
Well beaten on both outings and looks out of her depth in this company. An absence since June leaves her chances looking somewhat remote.

Forecasts

Sympa Des Flos (6/4), Chatham Street Lad (4/1), Shaw's Cross (13/2), Cowboy Des Long (8/1), Trainwreck (11/1), Isodon (14/1), Dicey O'reilly (14/1), Port Rashid (20/1), Celebrity Status (20/1), Canyon D'ahaut (20/1), Veneziano Springs (25/1), Banno (25/1), Aughnamaulmeen (66/1), Lagenod (100/1), Love N' Peace (100/1), Johnnyonepunch (100/1), Tricky Question (100/1)

Verdict

Hardly a competitive maiden hurdle and one that should be within the scope of SYMPA DES FLOS representing the Mullins/Walsh/Ricci connection. The French import took them along at a good clip at Downpatrick and, with that run under his belt and over a shorter trip, he can expose the limitations of many of these. Shaw's Cross appears the main threat given the promise shown on his here last month, whilst Trainwreck has plenty of scope and looks a future winner over further.
  1. Sympa Des Flos
  2. Shaw's Cross
  3. Trainwreck
