Showed he was still a force to be reckoned with when landing a Perth handicap on his last start for the third successive year. Is a dual course winner and should go well although giving weight away won't be easy.
Made a good impression on his first start for this yard winning over C&D on his handicap debut. Could have more to offer even off a higher mark given that he has improvement left in him in this sphere.
Looked better than ever when winning here recently over 2m4f and now steps back in trip to 2m. Should be able to cope with that factor but is up 8lb in the handicap and that may just anchor him here.
Only placed once in six visits to this course and that came over this distance on his most recent run here when he bounced back from a poor effort on his previous run. Usually seen to better effect at Hexham and another place may be the best he can hope for.
Has shown a fair level of form over hurdles but looks to be held off marks such as this having been well beaten over C&D recently. Would need a drop in the weights before he's of interest in races like this.
Unbeaten over C&D (2/2) and returns from an absence here having been seen to good effect when last seen at Perth. Would have a chance off this mark if fully tuned up on a course she has performed well on before.
Back to form when making all at Bangor on his last start over hurdles springing a 33/1 shock. Can be rather lazy though and needs to be in the right mood and now 5lb higher than his last win.
Managed to win three times on the Flat when trained in Ireland but hasn't matched that form over hurdles at all. Makes his debut for this yard and best watched until showing some more spark.
Showed his best form at Sedgefield last season winning four times at the track. Looked to need the run over C&D last time out when finishing well behind Picture Painter and will need to have come on a lot to reverse the form.
Has never really lived up to the promise that he showed as a young horse and recent races (even when well backed) haven't shown an awful lot. Given his recent performances others are much preferred in this.
Has the look of a potential improver now that he goes handicapping off what looks to be a competitive mark having shown ability in novice hurdles. It may well be that he needs further but he's well worth watching in the market and the race for the future.
Looks to have been a hard horse to train but has shown that he retains ability in his two recent runs. Ran well over 2n4f here last time out and might appreciate the drop back in trip here and can be given a chance.
Sprang a real surprise to win at Perth in the spring and whilst she's not really progressed on that run she has run with credit since. This looks a little tougher than her usual gigs but she should run with credit.
Forecasts
Picture Painter (7/2), Craig Star (9/2), Romulus Du Donjon (7/1), Iskabeg Lane (17/2), Meadowcroft Boy (9/1), Desert Island Dusk (10/1), Civil Unrest (12/1), Alizee De Janeiro (12/1), Jet Master (12/1), An Fear Ciuin (22/1), Dark And Dangerous (25/1), Bahrikate (33/1), Nice Vintage (66/1)
A competitive handicap hurdle with PICTURE PAINTER looking as though he’ll be able to go close to following up his C&D win off a 6lb higher mark. Craig Star showed improved form to win here last time out although the drop to 2m might test him a little more with Desert Island Dusk another who may have more of a place than a win chance. Iskabeg Lane is the most fascinating of these now that he goes handicapping although another 4f might suit him better with Alizee De Janeiro one to respect if she is fit enough to do herself justice defending her unbeaten record over C&D.
- Picture Painter
- Iskabeg Lane
- Craig Star
