Didn't show a huge amount of promise in four bumpers. Related to plenty of hurdling success, so may do better with something to jump. Best efforts so far on good ground, but probably one to watch this time.
Placed in 10 of his 12 hurdles, so no doubting that there is a bit of ability there, but proving frustrating to follow in both novices' and maiden hurdles. Yet to appear in a handicap and sticks to this sphere, where he is clearly vulnerable.
Debut bumper winner at Hexham last year and twice placed in Listed company in that sphere. Was still going well on hurdles debut (2m3f) at Warwick in May when falling and if he can complete then he has the ability to win this.
Reasonable performer (rated 79) on the Flat, though beaten 53L on his hurdling debut at Bangor (2m½f, good to soft) earlier this month. There should be scope for a fair bit of improvement on that and if he finds that then he may take a hand.
Raced keenly but did well for a long way on his debut in a Newcastle bumper (1m6½f, soft) in December. Half-brother to a 2m5f hurdle winner and will be well prepared for this hurdling introduction. Market check suggested.
Won four times on the Flat at 6f-7½f (including on good) and is rated 83 in that sphere. Stamina could be an issue over this trip if they go a true gallop, though may have enough class to overcome that. Market check on hurdles debut.
Was off the track for over 18 months before a decent effort here on his comeback (2m1f, good) in a bumper earlier in the month. Should be well schooled and no fitness doubts ahead of his hurdles debut, though will need to improve.
Placed just four times from 21 starts on the Flat, where he remains a maiden. Best efforts have been over 1m2f-1m6f. so stamina won't be a problem here, but will need plenty of improvement on this hurdles debut.
Second bumper effort for James Ewart was an improvement on his first, though neither red hot. Now makes his hurdling debut for this yard local to the track and a market check is advised to gauge expectations.
Looked a very useful prospect last year when, after winning a point-to-point, he was the easy winner of a Market Rasen bumper and bettered that under a penalty at Doncaster. Dam won over hurdles and entirely possible that he can emulate that.
Handled this track well enough in a bumper in May, but has so far not been involved in two hurdles, both here and at Kelso. Likely to enter calculations more strongly when he has a handicap mark.
0-17 over hurdles and rated just 74. Pulled up off that mark in a handicap hurdle here earlier in the month and looks impossible to recommend him.
Forecasts
Ravenhill Road (1/2), Imperial Eloquence (2/1), Golden Town (8/1), Michele Strogoff (25/1), Inniscastle Lad (28/1), Joke Dancer (33/1), Mutawaasel (33/1), Porto Du Sud (66/1), Strong Team (100/1), Percy Verence (125/1), Bygones For Coins (150/1), Aye Aye Enya (200/1)
Golden Town will have a bit to find with a few of these but knows his way around and could again be vying for a place in the frame. A more serious player in the outcome should, however, be Imperial Eloquence, who could be a danger to all if he completes. Inniscastle Lad is a potential improver, while Joke Dancer merits a market check and the same applies to Porto Du Sud and Michele Strogoff. However, RAVENHILL ROAD is unbeaten under rules so far can clearly go well when fresh, and he has shown enough to suggest that he might be capable of maintaining his 100 per cent record now that he goes hurdling.
- Ravenhill Road
- Imperial Eloquence
- Michele Strogoff
