Runner up to Dostal Phil in a 1m4f+ bumper at Deauville (good) in October 2016, and sold the following month at Cheltenham for £130,000. Well related gelding by Martaline, and a fascinating hurdles/UK debutant.
Rear-division finishes in bumpers and offered relatively little on his first start for nine months on his Uttoxeter hurdles debut (2m4f maiden soft).
7f turf and AW winner with a rating in the low 50's on the Flat. Last seen in action on the Flat at Musselburgh last month, but now tries hurdling for the first time. Half-brother to hurdles winner Chilly Miss.
A twelve race maiden on the Flat for Brian Meehan (73 rated), and 0 from 4 over hurdles for this yard. Finished last of nine on his recent handicap debut at Hexham (2m heavy).
£16,000 buy as a first foal by Oscar out of a dam who was fourth in a point-to-point (Ask The Misses). Stable have started the season well, but this gelding needs to improve massively on his Carlisle bumper effort in April now switched to hurdles.
Made the frame in both starts in bumpers, including when beaten 1¾L by Brecon Hill on debut here in May (2m½f good). Out of a dual point-to-point winner (Lewesdon Duchess), so should have more to offer over timber.
€40,000 three-year-old by Manduro. A half-brother to six winners including Hollow Tree and Ridgeway Storm. Fell at the first on his hurdles debut for Dan Skelton at Warwick last month, and returns to action a noteworthy stable switcher.
€40,000 foal by Sageburg, and a brother to the useful hurdle/chase winner Fou Et Sage. Slow to show any obvious ability thus far (including over hurdles), but returns fresh wearing a first time tongue tie (accompanies the hood).
Hurdles debutant, but a three time winner from 23 starts on the Flat, including twice over 1m4f at Catterick. With a yard who tends to do well with it's youthful hurdlers, but probably not strong enough in this company.
Forecasts
Demon D'Aunou (4/5), Quest For Life (11/4), Wotabreeze (11/2), Royal Mandate (12/1), Magnum (16/1), Great Colaci (33/1), Permission Granted (33/1), Diamant de L'Ouest (50/1), Wisecracker (50/1)
DEMON D'AUNOU is the notable eye-catcher turning out over hurdles for the first time in the silks of JP McManus having been acquired for £130,000 at the November 2016 Cheltenham sale. He showed obvious ability in France, and is a brother to 2m2f hurdle winner Coquine D'Aunou as well as a half-brother to French Listed placed 2m2f hurdle winner Quatre Vingt Treize. With a lack of overly strong opposition in the line up, bar the mildly interesting stable switcher Royal Mandate, he should prove far too strong for his eight rivals and provide trainer Jonjo O'Neill with yet another winner this week.
- Demon D'aunou
- Royal Mandate
- Quest For Life
