Successful twice from five starts since returning from a highly successful spell in point-to-points, though both wins came in weak Cartmel company. Well beaten in a better race Uttoxeter (2m4f, good to soft) last time but not one to write off.

Well-placed to win four times over fences, including back-to-back events during the summer before finishing third in a better race at Market Rasen. Last seen out on the Flat here in August and should give a decent account.

Remains a high-class chasers, winning off a mark of 144 on soft ground at Sandown in February. Easily sets the standard here on that sort of form but unraced since March and has tended to need a run. Still the one to beat.

Has bagged a couple of chase wins from his many visits here and also scored over 3m on heavy ground at Towcester in February, albeit from a low mark. Official figures suggest he has little chance on these terms.

Grey Gold (4/5), Flying Eagle (2/1), Red Riverman (4/1), King Alfonso (20/1), Magical Man (25/1)

Verdict

Official figures suggest this is a penalty kick for Grey Gold, and that may prove the case, but he's 12-years-old and needed his reappearance last year, so it may pay to take him on at the likely prohibitive odds. FLYING EAGLE, who was progressing well until coming unstuck in a hot handicap at Uttoxeter, is put forward as the alternative with C&D winner Red Riverman also respected.
  1. Flying Eagle
  2. Grey Gold
  3. Red Riverman
