Didn't look wholly straightforward even allowing for his inexperience over hurdles, but got the job done at short odds in a match contest over C&D last week. Penalised now, but remains a potentially useful enough prospect.

Made the frame in three of his four starts in bumpers, but arguably didn't quite match the promise of his debut second to Winningtry at Wincanton in April 2016. Likely to do better over hurdles, but might need further with time.

An 18 race maiden (bumpers, hurdles and over fences). Weakened tamely late on after forcing the pace in a C&D novice handicap hurdle in June (pulled up), and little realistic chance overall.

11,000 gns yearling who has finished a runner up on both starts in bumpers (Stratford and Perth). However, he needs to build upon those efforts markedly now switched to hurdles. Brother to useful 2m hurdle winner Hollow Tree.

Shine's Bar10
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: P J Brennan| T: F O'Brien
40/1
Has appeared of very limited ability in a couple of recent spins in bumpers, and whilst time is on his side, he needs a transformation in order to figure on hurdles debut.

On the premises when falling at the last on her sole start in a point-to-point at Loughanmore in April (3m mares maiden, good). Moved onto pastures new since, and seeks to make the most of the weight received from all of her rivals on hurdles debut.

Forecasts

Sword Of Fate (2/9), Brunel Woods (7/1), Handy Hollow (8/1), Phoenix Rock (14/1), Shine's Bar (40/1), Emperor Commodos (80/1)

Verdict

The unknown Phoenix Rock receives plenty of weight from all of her rivals as the sole mare in the line up, and she should be monitored closely in the market on debut for Jonjo O'Neill. However, the penalised SWORD OF FATE has hurdling experience, and although left with little to beat in a match on quick ground over C&D last week, he made no mistake under Richard Johnson. Obviously this is stronger, but not overly so, and as a potentially useful enough prospect over hurdles, the Tom Lacey trained Beneficial gelding is taken to follow up.
  1. Sword Of Fate
  2. Phoenix Rock
  3. Handy Hollow
