Group 3 winner who has done all of his winning at 5f-5½f, including on good to soft when scoring at Ascot in the Listed Rous Stakes last time out. However, back in this grade and with a 7lb rise, he may not have sufficient improvement within.
Class act who was a dual Group 1 winner in 2015 and is best on a sound/fast surface. Close second in the Group 2 Temple Stakes in May. Below that form since and resumes handicapping for first time in three years from 3lb higher. That won't be easy.
Dual Group 3 scorer who won this last year (good to firm) from just 1lb lower. Has again been competitive in pattern company without winning this term, goes on any ground and now back in this grade he has claims again.
Well beaten at York on Saturday in a 0-105 and reserves his best efforts for Ripon and Beverley. Yet to win a handicap from higher than a mark of 99 and has had plenty of opportunity, so even if on song he is likely to find one or two too good.
His sole handicap win was from 8lb lower at Goodwood (5f, good) in May, though he has continued to improve in defeat since. However, although he acts on this ground, there is concern that he is better when it is a bit quicker.
Won a maiden and then a Sandown handicap (5f, good) in quick succession in the spring and has kept on improving despite not adding to that. ½L runner-up at Yarmouth (5f, good to soft) last time was arguably his best so far and he is a contender.
Former winner of the Group 2 Flying Childers (2013), though he has added just two more wins to his CV since. 2lb higher than when taking a Newmarket handicap last year. Handles cut and claims if at his best, though two poor efforts to put to bed.
Enjoyed plenty of success at two and three, but unable to add to that this year. Handles cut in the ground and encouraging that his best recent effort came over C&D (good to soft) last month, but being nudged up 1lb won't help.
Largely consistent sprinter who has been running just about as well as ever recently and won over C&D (heavy) last month. This is tougher, especially from 6lb higher and his limitations were exposed at Haydock last time.
Won a Brighton maiden on the second of his 27 starts, but has been barren since. 3lb higher today than when a close second in a similar Chester handicap in May and despite some solid efforts since, his record makes him hard to fancy.
Forecasts
Vibrant Chords (5/4), Jumira Bridge (5/1), Gracious John (10/1), Just Glamorous (10/1), Taexali (10/1), Soie D'leau (10/1), Goldream (14/1), Mirza (14/1), Pipers Note (14/1), Green Door (33/1)
Goldream has been there and done that and although he is 3lb higher than when last seen handicapping, his class should still see him go close in this field. However, up and coming is JUMIRA BRIDGE and although he may never hit the heights of Robert Cowell's old pro, he is going the right way and may be able to take his measure today. Vibrant Chords is respected, though ideally would want the ground to dry out and Green Door is not without a chance if he can shake-off two moderate recent efforts. Mirza is another to consider in a good contest for the track.
- Jumira Bridge
- Mirza
- Goldream
