War Front colt, cost $1,300,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to a two-year-old dirt winner and dam was a Group 1 winner. Made most on debut until lack of a run told and this looks a lot easier. Entered for the Irish 2000 Guineas.

£210,000 purchase at the breeze-ups and a Lonrho half-brother to a minor winner. Yard had four juvenile winners last month so worth checking in the market.

Has shown a modest level of ability on both starts, although there was as not much improvement as expected 11 days ago. May be one for a nursery after this.

6,000 gns purchase at Newmarket in July and half-brother to a couple of minor winners. In at the deep end on debut and likely to need the experience.

Foxwedge gelding who was keen on debut and unsurprisingly had nothing to give at the business end. Related to four winners and there was enough promise to indicate he will be another, but that would be more likely to be on another occasion.
From a good Juddmonte line and there was much to take from his debut here four weeks ago. He travelled as well as the winner for much of the trip and was not given a hard time. The stable have been misfiring but he is definitely one to consider.

Fastnet Rock colt related to a couple of winners from 6f-1m. Not the most obvious on pedigree in this lineup but respected for top yard.

Sepoy colt is a half-brother to two-year-old 6f winner Dutch Gallery and a 7f winner in Greece. Yard have had a good year with this age group but jockey bookings would indicate he may be one for another day.
10,000 gns yearling who has been gelded. First foal of an unraced dam who is a half-sister to Group Three winner Energizer. Yard 1-19 with juveniles in five seasons and unlikely he will be good enough to take this.

Lawman colt is a half-brother to some useful winners and showed enough on debut to suggest he can maintain that tradition. In a tough race today but one to keep on the right side of.

90,000gns brother to useful 6f-1m winner Mirage and closely related to 6f-8.5f winner Amnesia, half-brother to three more notably Alphabet; dam 7f AW 2yo winner, half-sister to the very useful Power. A market check is a must.

Low key stuff so far from this son of Archipenko. Like many from this yard he can be expected to improve with time and when sent handicapping.

12,500 gns purchase by Rip Van Winkle and related to a number of turf and AW winners. Will need to be above average to take this.

325,000 gns yearling by Dansili out of the top-class mare Izzi Top who won six races including two Group One contests and a Group Two. Looks highly interesting on that pedigree and in very good hands.

Declaration Of War filly out of a dam who is half-sister to St Leger runner-up High Accolade. In a tough race on debut and may be one for another day.

Forecasts

Alfarqad (10/11), Herdwick (5/1), Willie John (15/2), Amplification (10/1), Humbolt Current (12/1), Sheriff (14/1), Black Lotus (25/1), Conversant (50/1), Spring Praise (66/1), Vantasy (66/1), Pass Mark (100/1), Jawan (100/1), Go Fox (100/1), Dark Side Jazz (200/1), Timoshenko (250/1)

Verdict

Willie John has an exciting pedigree and is worth noting in the market along with another debutant Spring Praise. Herdwick and Alfarqad both displayed immense promise on their debuts. The former will appreciate the quicker ground but the performance of Expert Eye on Saturday is further evidence that the yard are not really firing at present. ALFARQAD did best of the debutants in his race on debut and given the progress you expect runners to make for this stable, then he would rate the one they all have to beat.
  1. Alfarqad
  2. Herdwick
  3. Willie John
