Runner up in a couple bumpers last winter (Catterick and Fontwell), but was beaten many lengths on both occasions, and has shown little over hurdles in two starts thus far. Wears first time cheek-pieces.
2

25/1
Half-brother to Qualando who joined new connections after finishing runner up in a 3m Dromahane point-to-point in April. Finished in mid-division on hurdles bow at Warwick last month (2m good), so improvement required.

5/1
Point winner who scored at the first time of asking under rules in a Taunton bumper in April (2m½f good) and whilst that form perhaps isn't overly strong, he looks an interesting recruit to hurdles.

50/1
Runner up in a 3m Curraghmore point-to-point in April (beaten a neck) and has moved onto a new trainer since. Makes his rules debut in a competitive early season contest.
Solid enough in three starts in bumpers without winning, with the pick of his efforts when a close third to the unbeaten Cap Soleil, and subsequent Newbury scorer Daphne Du Clos at Cheltenham on New Years Day (1m6f Listed soft). Hurdles debut.

Acquired for £140,000 in May (Doncaster) after finishing runner up to The Holy One in a 3m Broughshane point-to-point in April. His dam Geek Chic was a winning pointer who is closely related to a number of winners including Tumbling Dice.

Made it third time lucky in bumpers when successful in a small field contest at Exeter in April (for Brian Eckley). Sold for £65,000 subsequently, he's a half-brother to various winners including Jaunty Journey and Jaunty Flight.

Flemensfirth gelding who is a half-brother to point-to-point winner I No Understand. His experience thus far is limited to that domain (fourth of ten at Tattersalls Farm in November 2016), and now makes his rules debut for new connections.

Lubatic34
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: N D Fehily| T: N P Mulholland
66/1
A winner of a Wincanton bumper on his second start in April, but really only beat the sole realistic rival, and didn't appear overly endeared to hurdling when pulled up on his debut over timber at Fontwell last month.
A winner on debut at Largy (3m maiden yielding) in April 2016, he moved onto his current connections thereafter. However, he posted a low-key effort in a Bangor bumper (October 2016), and has been absent since. Hurdles debut.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: L P Aspell| T: N J Gifford
15/2
13L Fontwell bumper winner (2m1½f good) in June 2016, but off for the majority of last season after finishing runner up to Cesar Et Rosalie at Lingfield in November. Likely to race prominently on hurdles debut, but plenty to prove. Wears a hood.

Age: 4|  Weight: 10-12| J: T J O'Brien| T: J L Flint
100/1
His dam Whispering Wind was a bumper and 2m hurdle winner, but he was never involved after being held up on debut in a Worcester bumper last month when finishing fourth of eight to Hatcher. Hurdles debut.
£45,000 three-year-old by Blue Bresil out of a hardy 2m2f-2m3f French winning hurdler and chaser. Always in the rear in a valuable Newbury bumper on debut in March, and has his first run over hurdles for a new trainer.
£14,000 three-year-old by Great Pretender out of Yellow Park. He makes his racecourse debut over hurdles for leading connections, but possibly looks the type to do better with time being a half-brother to French 2m5f chase winner Elival De Sanson.

Forecasts

Dynamite Dollars (9/4), Captain Simon (5/1), Lostintranslation (11/2), Fleminport (6/1), Notre Ami (15/2), Jaunty Flyer (12/1), Vango De Vaige (12/1), Natter Jack Croak (25/1), Cap Du Nord (25/1), Cheer's Delboy (50/1), Tekiblue de L'Orme (66/1), Lubatic (66/1), Blue Bullet (100/1), Rumor (100/1)

Verdict

Exciting times ahead for all National Hunt enthusiasts with this two day Chepstow fixture signalling a resumption of the traditional autumn/winter fun and games. The majority of the leading yards are represented in the opener with Nicholls, Hobbs, O'Neill, Tizzard and Skelton amongst those with potentially useful hurdles prospects. The Skelton trained Captain Simon is unbeaten under rules after landing a Taunton bumper in April, but that form has yet to be really put to the test, whilst the deubtant Vango De Vaige might be the type to do better with a run or two under his belt. DYNAMITE DOLLARS was disappointing on his final start in a bumper, but his earlier form reads well (most notably at Cheltenham), and whilst perhaps not the best long term prospect in this race, it is surely significant that he is the pick of various entries from Ditcheat.
  1. Dynamite Dollars
  2. Fleminport
  3. Captain Simon
