Cost €40,000 after winning his only start in an Irish point-to-point (won easily) but hasn't been seen since. Comes from a yard that do well in bumpers though and wears a hood for his debut in this sphere.
Has a pedigree that contains winners on the dams side in bumpers and comes from a yard that does well in this sphere. Cost €16,000 as a three-year-old so wasn't as expensive as some in this field but well worth a market check.
One of only two in the field that have had experience and he sets the standard here on that score. Shaped better and better as the race went on and finished with a promising flourish; experience could stand him in good stead here.
From a yard that doesn't look to be quite firing at the moment although his debut effort did show some promise (looked in need of the outing). Should come on for that run but probably needs a greater stamina test and others are preferred for now.
A rare bumper runner from a yard that is 0/6 in this sphere in the lst five years. Makes his debut here and despite a decent pedigree he's best watched on debut.

Has quite an attractive pedigree (cost £12,000) being a Juddmonte reject who is a half-brother to a 1m4f Flat Listed winner in Variable. The dam was a mile Group 1 juvenile winner so on those facts alone he makes some appeal and should be checked in the market.

Hard to fancy this one who makes her debut under Rules having been pulled-up on her sole point-to point start. Would be a surprise winner of this.

A winner on her Irish point-to-point debut she was bought for £28,000 after that win and now makes her Rules debut for a yard with a good record with bumper debutantes. Withdrawn on account on the fast ground at Worcester yesterday.
Yard can get one ready for their debut run so a market watch is always advised with this yard. This one is a sister to 2m hurdle/chase winner Today Please who may just come on for this run.

Forecasts

Brianstorm (5/4), Crooks Peak (5/1), River Bray (6/1), Timeforben (8/1), Rooster Cogburn (17/2), Westerberry (11/1), Wimpole (12/1), Sustainable Star (50/1), Jubilee Lass (80/1)

Verdict

A few in this make some appeal and the market should prove very interesting with not much form to go on. RIVER BRAY shaped well on his debut and may well be able to put his experience to good use here having finished off his race well at Kempton last time. Brainstorm is of obvious interest given his price, his good point-to-point win and his trainer’s record in bumpers. Crooks Peak and Timeforben are two that need looking at in the market with Wimpole of real interest given his pedigree amongst those at bigger prices.
  1. River Bray
  2. Brianstorm
  3. Crooks Peak
