A 13 race career maiden, but has made the frame in four of his seven starts over fences, most recently here in May when beaten 3L by Fine Jewellery (2m4f good to soft). Looks a shade one paced, and his stamina over 3m is a slight concern.
His sole success came over this trip at Perth in September 2016 (good), but he's had plenty of chances to add to that tally since then, but has been unable to capitalise on a gradual slide in the weights.
Dromahane point-to-point winner in March 2015 (3m yielding to soft), but poor in a pair of Cheltenham hunter chases for his previous trainer, and could only plug on to finish fourth of seven in a similar event over C&D in May. Stable/handicap debut.
A 20 race maiden who very regularly 'knocks on the door'. Runner up on seven of his last nine starts, so holds very few secrets from the handicapper. Connections now seek the assistance of the champion jockey in order to find the key.
Posted a marginally improved effort at Market Rasen last month when a rallying third to I'm An Izz Wizz (2m5½f good to soft), but basically looks a tricky customer. His overall win ratio is poor (1 from 18) and looks best ignored.
Course winner from a 9lb higher mark in May 2015 (2m½f) and ran well here on his sole other start at this track (May 2016). However, largely poor for some considerable time now and rates as extremely vulnerable over this trip.
Regularly out of his depth for his previous trainer in Ireland versus the masses of riches in the beginners chase ranks for Willie Mullins. That said, he's offered little, but looks trick to evaluate. No surprise to see a better run on stable debut.
Dual course winner over hurdles (2m5f & 3m) who has the ground conditions to suit. Yet to prove his worth over fences in three attempts, but could be worth risking in the first time cheek-pieces at his favoured track.
An in and out performer who has done all of his winning with cut. However, solid enough over 3m (good) at Hexham in the spring, and whilst others are more appealing, his trainer did saddle a double at Pontefract on Monday.
Forecasts
Copperfacejack (5/2), Fled Or Pled (3/1), Mount Oliver (5/1), Dontminddboys (6/1), Sirius Star (10/1), U Me And Them (12/1), Frank The Slink (16/1), Mollies Gent (16/1), Heurtevent (33/1)
A relatively moderate event in which it's tough to build a cast iron solid case for any of the runners. Richard Johnson is in demand as Paul Webber tries valiantly to convince Copperfacejack to shed the maiden tag at the 21st attempt, whilst Mount Oliver should be monitored for market support on debut for Neil Mulholland. However, whilst clearly a risky proposition over fences, the undeniably well treated FLED OR PLED is taken to maintain his love affair with Towcester. He was 2 from 2 here over hurdles and has the services of Brian Hughes in the saddle.
- Fled Or Pled
- Copperfacejack
- Mount Oliver
