The form of his hurdling debut looks solid in the context of this race and this fellow, who has jumps winners in his pedigree, is going the right way. One for the shortlist.
Won two of his three starts in Bumpers and looks a very interesting recruit for his predominately Flat-orientated yard. Encounters softer ground than he has before but ought to cope and is one of the likelier winners.
Experienced from his time in France but the form is difficult to assess. Sent off at 100/1 on British debut but that was in a Grade 1 and this is much more realistic. Another to bear in mind if the market casts him in a better light this time.
Very modest form on the Flat and would appear to be the lesser light of the stable's two intended runners.
Off the mark in a Bumper at Musselburgh in March; swapped hands for £30,000 at the Doncaster sales afterwards and gets his first chance to prove his worth. Pedigree not a natural for Jumps but is one to keep tabs on in the betting nonetheless.
Form only modest at best so far and others make a lot more appeal at this stage.
Won a Bumper at Wetherby and not disgraced in a similar race at this course afterward. Then faced a very stiff test at Aintree and can be forgiven that run; but still has something to prove on debut over hurdles.
Breeding doesn't really lend itself to the Jumping game and starts so far in this sphere have backed up that theory. Best watched.
Of average ability on the Flat but stays well, so has a feasible chance if he can adapt. The betting can be a good guide where he is concerned but others look to hold stronger claims.
An odd-on favourite on debut in a Bumper at this course but lack of experience took its toll when he was asked for effort. Only modest improvement in two Bumpers since and needs to up his game once more now there are obstacles in the way.
Won on the Flat at Cattrerick (6f, good to firm)) but has a big question to answer regarding his stamina over this trip now he switches codes. Others more appealing.
Bumper form was poor and didn't look fluent at the only obstacle she cleared on hurdling debut here last month. Not hard to overlook on that evidence.
Forecasts
Beyond The Clouds (4/6), Bal De Rio (7/2), Some Reign (6/1), Bulkov (12/1), Temple Man (20/1), Kelpies Myth (22/1), Tectonic (40/1), Blue Jacket (80/1), Shesthebusiness (100/1), Calypso Delegator (100/1), Strong Team (100/1), Rooster Spirit (100/1)
A few interesting contenders - not least the Ex-French Bulkov, who has a good deal of experience to draw from and is worth noting in the betting. Similar comments in terms of betting activity apply to the likes of Kelpies Myth and Beyond The Clouds, who both make plenty of appeal on their form in Bumpers; the latter especially. However, BAL DE RIO posted a solid effort on debut over timber and, given that the winner of that race has subsequently gone in again; there are solid reasons to side with top one of the card this time around.
- Bal De Rio
- Beyond The Clouds
- Kelpies Myth
