Is quite a temperamental sort (refused to race twice) but is capable of some decent form over fences when he's in the mood. Made a winning return to the track in May but he's found life tough since and looks handicapped to the hilt.
Still capable of some useful form especially now he is operating off a lower mark. That helped him gain his first win since 2015 in April although he's now off a 6lb higher mark returning to action. Has run well fresh though and still of interest.
Has proved very expensive to follow with numerous short-priced defeats after failing to go through with his finishing effort. Looks increasingly half-hearted and hard to trust even though the handicapper is starting to relent a little.
Stepped forward and built on his winning hurdles debut when he made a successful start to his chasing career at Sedgefield. Travelled well and despite only winning narrowly showed that he may well be better in this sphere and should go well again.
Only three chase starts to his name so far and this will be his handicap debut in this sphere. Comes into this off a mixture of Flat and hurdles starts (opened his Flat account in one of those runs) but below par last time out and has questions to answer here.
A change of tactics (prominent ride) and the addition of a tongue-tie looked to be the catalysts for a C&D win in June. Not in the same form since then though and will do well to return to form here.
Looked as though he was back to form after a break when taking third in a small-field handicap chase over further at Newton Abbot on his penultimate run. Failed to build on that though (race may have come too soon); more needed here off this mark.
Won three times last season but all those wins came off lower marks and he struggled after the last of his wins to cope with an inflated mark. Handicapper now giving him a chance (back to form last time) but no certainty to build on that run.

Orbasa (3/1), Newton Geronimo (4/1), Oliver's Hill (9/2), Baby Jake (6/1), Ashoka (13/2), Pearls Legend (8/1), Purple 'n Gold (14/1), Turban (14/1), Theatre Mill (25/1)
The Skelton record with chasers in the last five years (8/15) merits the closest inspection and his Ashoka looks as though he may well turn out to be better in this sphere than he was over hurdles on the evidence of his debut. However, PEARLS LEGEND has been in some tougher fights than this in his time and with the handicapper giving him and chance he’s the suggestion here especially as he goes well fresh. Several of the others are capable but do have temperament question to answer and that makes Newton Geronimo and Orbasa a duo to be very careful with here. The handicapper has given Oliver’s Hill a chance although this is a better grade than he usually runs in.
