Rounded off the previous campaign below her best and perhaps that's attributable to her rise in the weights for three victories since October 2016. However, these conditions hold no fears, and she'll potentially be much stronger kept to her own sex.
Proving to be a frustrating mare, having failed to build upon some initial promise, and has squandered a couple of winning opportunities. She has been dropped 2lb for her second start in a handicap, but steps up to 2m4f for the first time.
Seven race maiden who showed glimmers of promise in bumpers, but more so when upped in trip on heavy ground over C&D last month (6L runner up to Heart Of Kernow). Moves into handicap company from a maiden hurdle.
12 race maiden, but has run some respectable races in Ireland, and couldn't really have been expected to finish much closer to the Willie Mullins trained Shanning at Sligo latest (2m soft to heavy). Trip probably not ideal.
Tends to travel through her races, but has yet to muster a winning challenge, and remains a maiden after 13 attempts. Ground conditions are fine, and this trip is better than the 3m that she tried at Perth in May, but others look more convincing.
Has her quirks (refused to race in July), but bolted up off a hold up ride by today's pilot at Uttoxeter last month (2m good to soft). Stable are clearly still getting to know her, but up 11lb and in trip.
A nine race maiden who has been comfortably held in selling and handicap hurdles since June, and on the strength of those efforts shouldn't be good enough. Edging down the weights, and a brief foray with fences has been dismissed for now.
Game front runner who likes to have plenty of give underfoot, and whilst both of her previous successes have come at this track (2m), she has been found wanting twice last month and this longer trip makes her even more vulnerable.
Forecasts
Soiesauvage (5/2), Rivabodiva (9/2), Echo Lady (9/2), Theatre Act (5/1), Viognier (17/2), Lavella Wells (11/1), Mrs Grass (12/1), Sunset Marquis (18/1)
Not a strong mares handicap hurdle, with five of the eight runners actually maidens. Soiesauvage turned over a new leaf when bolting up at Uttoxeter last month, but from an 11lb higher mark and upped in trip, it's anyone's guess as to whether or not this quirky mare can repeat the trick. Viognier performed with credit when beaten 6L by Heart Of Kernow in a C&D maiden hurdle last month, and that form could be boosted in the opener, but whether she's strong enough on her handicap debut remains to be seen. Therefore, a chance is taken on the returning top-weight THEATRE ACT. She might not be fully tuned up and ready to go and that's an obvious risk, but she knows how to win races and is essentially better than this field of rivals.
- Theatre Act
- Viognier
