Unreliable sort who is capable of running well but often throws in a moody performance where he fails to travel and jumps poorly. Generally best kept away from the bigger tracks these days but still above his last winning mark.
Won his novice chase around here over a shorter trip and landed the Grand Sefton at Aintree over the big fences in December. Ran well enough in the majority of his subsequent starts although his response to pressure has been disappointing on occasions.
Failed to win last season but turned in some good efforts in defeat having been given some stiff tasks; his jumping at Cheltenham was especially good. His last run can be ignored (badly hampered) and should be capable of a bold show here.
Was in far better form when winning over C&D last year before he followed up at Ascot during one of his better spells. Form tailed off in two starts after the first forgiven as it came after a busy spell; now back from a break and a market watch advised.
Winning hurdler who showed ability over fences last season but either kept bumping into well handicapped rivals or spoilt his chance with some poor jumping. Will need to jump with more fluency and élan to win races of this calibre.
Really thrived in a spell last year (won five races on the bounce) but the last of those wins came a year ago now and he's found marks such as today's beyond him. A break may well have refreshed him but given past performances this looks tough.
Took advantage of a much lower hurdles mark to win here last time under a good ride but was all out to hold on. His last chase win came off 132 (again here over shorter) but he hasn't looked to be quite the same horse since that win.
Showed some useful chase form for Paul Nicholls and scored for this yard on his sixth start for them (stable in great for at the time and on the day). Came up short the next time out and now back from a break; still well treated on his old form.
Forecasts
As De Mee (2/1), Pull The Chord (7/2), Go Conquer (4/1), Workbench (6/1), Antony (10/1), Howlongisafoot (11/1), Fox Appeal (18/1), Gowanauthat (28/1)
Quite a classy event for this time of the year and As De Mee is given a good chance to get back on track although his early season target looks to be the Grand Sefton again. GO CONQUER was unlucky not to win last season and ran in some hot races and if he’s given the vote here for a yard that look to have hit the ground running. Antony knows his way around here but needs to bounce back but this looks to his time of the year and his trainer Gary Moore rarely leaves here without a winner. Pull The Chord ought to be able to win races but his jumping can let him down and this can be a tricky jumping contest while Workbench needs to show he can still do it over fences after his recent hurdles win.
- Go Conquer
- Antony
- As De Mee
