Dual bumper winner when with John Ferguson but his hurdles starts haven't quite matched that level of form yet although his debut effort after a long break was solid enough. Probably found the race coming too soon last time out; returns after a break.
2

Being brought along gradually with his two runs so far showing only a little promise although there was some progress from first to second run. Needs this run for a mark and looks as though handicaps will be his final destination.

Hurdling debutante who has shaped better than his finishing position in both of his bumpers and represents powerful connections. Likely to be suited by going hurdling and sure to be of interest now and in the future.

Scored on his bumper debut at Lingfield on the AW track and followed that up with an effort that measured as well as that victory when runner-up at Huntingdon. Looks worth a second look on his hurdles debut given that form.
Three outings so far over hurdles have offered very little (tried in a first-time hood last time) but goes without headgear here. Essentially disappointing and outclassed here and handicaps await very soon.

Was well held in a bumper and it's hard to say that the form over hurdles is any better. Needs one run for a handicap mark and we are likely to see him in low grade handicaps after this.

Useful chaser at his best and has won around here in that sphere and this hurdles outing looks as though it's to tune him up for a new chasing campaign. Likely to find one of two of these too quick and sharp.

Has an absence to overcome but does have some useful form against his name particularly his second at Newbury when last seen. Market will give clues as to his fitness and expectations here.

Improved to take a bumper on his second start at Towcester where he looked suited by the stiff track. Should make a hurdler although the likelihood is that he'll need further than this 2m to show his best in this sphere.

Makes his first start for this yard (previously with Evan Williams) and there looked to be something to work on after both his bumper and hurdles runs. May well need this after a break though but well worth watching in the race and market.

Rare hurdles runner for this yard (3/15 last five seasons) and his form in bumpers so far has been fairly modest. Makes his debut here over hurdles and would need to show plenty of progress to take a hand here.

40/1
Cost €50,000 as a five-year-old and is a graduate from the Irish point-to-point field (in frame once from three starts in maidens in that sphere). Now makes his Rules debut and is of interest given connections; trip may be a little short.

Failed to show much in two bumpers (never beat a rival in that sphere) but looked a much better prospect when sent over hurdles before falling on his debut. Has to be respected given connections.

Stable in rather mixed form at the moment although this one did show some ability on his only bumper starts so far. Given the opposition he'll do well to take a hand and looks one more for the future.
The only female in the field she offered promise and something to work on from her bumper debut in December. Disappointed last time out and now makes her hurdles debut but may be best watched on this occasion.

Forecasts

Herewego Herewego (8/11), Doitforthevillage (9/2), Blazon (7/1), Amirr (12/1), Ballygown Bay (14/1), Honest Vic (33/1), Shackleton (40/1), Reine Des Miracles (50/1), Megabucks (66/1), Sensible Friend (66/1), Unsafe Conduct (66/1), Ballyantics (80/1), Yellow Kangaroo (100/1), Caviar D'Allen (250/1), Chatelier (250/1)

Verdict

A big field for the opener with most having to overcome some sort of absence with Herewego Herewego having one of the longest to cope with although he does have some of the best form in this field. Both BALLYGOWAN BAY and Blazon have some good bumper form to their names and the former could well make a winning debut here with his connections always to be respected in this sphere. Amirr is another of interest along with Doitforthevillage who may well be having a prep run here before he does back over fences.
  1. Ballygown Bay
  2. Blazon
  3. Herewego Herewego
