Fifth in a Newmarket maiden which has produced a Group winner and another placed in top company. Has given the impression on her last two starts she would do better on a quicker surface. Well drawn to take advantage of her usual positive tactics.
Excuses for his two defeats in August (ground and draw) but much better last time and stuck to his task well. Handicapper has left him alone so definitely one to consider.
Much better last time on handicap debut in first time blinkers. Raised 3lb for that and the form has not worked out.
Set a searching pace at Goodwood last time but had no answer to the impressive winner. Up 2lb but the form has been working out well enough. Taken out of a Class 2 last Saturday and makes AW debut.
Good effort at Epsom 11 days ago on handicap debut over this trip (good to firm), staying on at the finish to be third (beaten 2½L). Appeared not to handle the hill that day and that must be a worry from his wide draw.
Third to the Coventry Stakes runner-up on second start before finding 5f too sharp at Chester. Last run was in a sales race at York and this looks more his level. Pedigree makes him worth a try at this trip.
Has improved with each run and makes nursery debut on a workable mark. Stable 4-8 here with juveniles so one to watch in the market.
Handicapped on his fourth at Newbury and has not run to that level on both starts since, despite a gelding operation. Something to prove at present.
Runs to a consistent level but it is not one that makes him an attractive proposition off this mark. Looks likely to find at least one of the unexposed horses too good.
Has caught the eye on all three starts whilst leaving the impression he might be a likely type for a nursery. Has stamina in the pedigree and one to note if supported.
Form figures disguise performances that have been better than they look. Has appealed as a type who would do better in this grade over a trip and he could be a factor.
Showed first sign of ability last time when coming from behind to finish fifth in a race where it paid to be up with the pace. Stable have taken four nurseries in the last fortnight.
Forecasts
Simply Breathless (4/1), Bajan Gold (11/2), Motabassim (7/1), Collateral (7/1), Trogon (8/1), Viceroy Mac (9/1), Fleeting Freedom (12/1), Galactic (12/1), Ashington (14/1), Levante Player (16/1), Stormy Sand (16/1), Rainbow Jazz (33/1)
Collateral has had plenty of chances to pay back part of his expensive purchase price but his latest effort did suggest connections will not have long to wait. Bajan Gold is interesting as one to note in the ring as he looks the type to improve considerably in nurseries whilst Stormy Sand is a likely improver over this trip. Ashington represents a yard with a fine record with juveniles here but for the selection we opt for SIMPLY BREATHLESS. Her forward style of racing looks ideal for this circuit and, having sidestepped a big purse at Newmarket last weekend, she looks one to keep an eye on.
- Simply Breathless
