Made all to take a French claimer in June and has found life tough enough in three handicaps since (yet to win one) all at Sandown. Best run came on ground similar to todays off this mark on penultimate start under an enterprising ride; grade should suit.
Most if not all of his best form has come on better ground than he'll face here and he never landed a blow in a Carlisle mile handicap last time on heavy. 6lb higher than his last winning mark and best watched on this surface.
Won fairly readily on his first start for this yard (formerly with Simon Crisford) over 7f on soft ground; greatly aided by run of race. Could be given a pass on disappointing straight after that but not last time out when temperament looked to be a problem; caution advised.
Formerly trained in Ireland (Aidan O'Brien) he confirmed the promise of his early runs for this yard when scoring at Hamilton with the soft ground looking to suit. A penalty couldn't stop him winning again before he failed to complete a hat-trick (ran with credit).
A change of yard and a reduction in trip to 7f appeared to spark a revival on his first couple of runs for this yard (resides on a good mark). But he's run poorly in two races since both over C&D and hard to know what to make him now.
A useful miler when trained in France, he's failed to fire on the Flat for his current yard (highly tried on occasions). A switch to hurdles last time out saw him make a winning debut in that sphere and that could rejuvenate his Flat form.
Gained her second career win here over 2f further (soft ground) back in June off a 2lb lower in a 0-60 handicap. That win has forced her back into better grades where she's run with credit although this is asking a little more than usual.

Forecasts
Rubis (11/4), Edgar Allan Poe (7/2), High Draw (5/1), Intiwin (5/1), Argaki (5/1), Magistral (15/2), Wasm (8/1), Crazy Tornado (8/1), Something Brewing (8/1)
Not an easy event to solve and a fair few of these have something to prove either in terms of ground, mark or temperament. High Draw will enjoy the ground and could get a soft lead which would make him a danger with Rubis looking to add another course win to her CV in a grade that she has been beaten in before although this doesn’t look a strong 0-75. Argaki resides on a good mark now if he could be trusted with Something Brewing not out of this on his French form; he may have been revitalised by his hurdles win last time. Intiwin is another who is well handicapped on his old form but the penalty may prove too much for him and the suggestion goes the way of EDGAR ALLAN POE who failed to complete the hat-trick but still looks capable back soft ground of winning again.
- Edgar Allan Poe
- High Draw
- Rubis
