Searching for his first win with the switch to handicaps not looking to have brought about any obvious progress. Ran well enough last time (ridden positively) and stayed this trip without looking ahead of his mark with cheekpieces retained.
Based on his maiden form he always looked the type to do better in nurseries and did so on his debut in this sphere over 6f staying on well. Given out mixed signals as to which distance he needs since and not an obvious candidate for a mile here.
Showed a marked step forward last time over 7f here when 50/1 in a decent minor event. Pedigree suggests that he will be suited by this trip as he makes his handicap debut and one to consider although the ground is an unknown.
One of three from this stable with the headgear (cheekpieces) going on for the first time after a disappointing first handicap run (looked an awkward ride). Slow away last time and not the first time he's not impressed with his attitude; one to be wary of.
Given his pedigree and relations it is no surprise to see him stepped up to this trip for his handicap debut (only run at up to 6f before). Tests so far have been barely adequate so far and improvement could come; stable no great record with handicap debutantes though.
Shown very little so far in novice/maiden events at up to 7f although those three runs have come quickly seemingly in an effort to get her handicapped. Stable yet to have a handicap debut winner and would need to show plenty of improvement here.
Early evidence suggests that he looks fairly limited and now stepped up to a mile for his handicap debut. Stable 0/10 with course handicap debutantes (past five years) and may be best watched having started at 50/1 plus all three starts.
Started at big prices (for this yard) on her three qualifying runs suggesting that handicaps would suit her better. Both starts in this sphere have been uninspiring so far even a switch to the AW failing to find some spark.
Rather like his stablemate his form so far has left a bit to be desired and there doesn't look to be any progress coming for a switch to this sphere. First-time cheekpieces and a switch to the AW over this trip failed last time and now faces deep ground.
One of a trio from this stable with it hard to find anything positive to say about her five starts so far with the last two being in handicaps; always behind in them. Now tries a mile for the first time but would be dangerous to pin hopes on that giving encouragement.
Forecasts
Here In The Dark (2/1), Admiral Rooke (5/1), Burn Some Dust (7/1), Cuillin Hills (8/1), Mountain Meadow (17/2), Saxonroad Boy (12/1), Barney George (12/1), Lil Gem (16/1), Retirement Beckons (22/1), Chef United (33/1)
A fairly weak nursery to start and afternoon of handicap delights on a meeting that will be run on testing ground on the hurdles track. One or two of these should be capable of better and although Here In The Dark sets the form standard it would be a little disappointing if one or two can’t improve past him here. Burn Some Dust is one who should be suited by the trip bearing in mind his pedigree and should be suited by a test as should BARNEY GEORGE. This will be his handicap debut with Iain Jardine having a good record with his debut runners in handicaps and his run last time hinted that a mile would suit. The trip is a question mark for Admiral Rookewhile Cuillin Hills looks to have ability but is also an awkward ride.
- Barney George
- Burn Some Dust
