Returns to action off a lower hurdles mark having been sent chasing last year winning a couple of times but does look harshly weighted in that sphere now. Best watched here despite the reduced mark.
A return to a longer trip, a reduced mark and first-time visor brought about a much improved performance winning easily at Uttoxeter. Given a fairly hefty rise for that win (12lb) and hopes pinned on the headgear working again.
Taunton has been the scene of his best runs so far (won twice there) and has run with credit in a couple of starts since. Not hard to see him running well here given his previous form and worth noting.
Like many multiple winners in weak summer novice events she's been handed a stiff looking marks for handicaps. Beaten off this mark last time and the handicapper shows her no mercy here on her second handicap start.
Makes his first handicap start having been a rather fortunate winner last time out at Bangor (main rival fell last) defying a penalty. Not hard to see him stepping forward again though with that run under his belt.
Looked to need the run last time out but even so he offered very little having raced well off the pace. Now in another change of headgear in a bid to spark him back to life and the form he showed in 2016.
Was on a firmly upward curve last year winning three times although his form rather took a dive over the winter months when sent chasing. Now reverts to hurdles but remains above his last winning mark and others preferred.
Hasn't won for quite some while and the last win came over fences in any case but may come on for his chasing return last month. Has gone close on occasions for this yard and not totally out of this (never won a handicap).
Had looked out of sorts on the Flat prior to bouncing back over hurdles with a third over hurdles last time. Didn't get the clearest of runs in the closing stages and may well be able to build on that run off the same mark.
Forecasts
Souriyan (10/3), Ckalco Des Loges (4/1), Desert Sensation (9/2), Beau Du Brizais (8/1), Zanstra (8/1), Rothman (8/1), Ayla's Emperor (14/1), Foxy Act (16/1), Tanit River (20/1)
A few of these will need to come back to form or build on recent runs to take a hand here and it may be best to rely on the recent winning form as the best guide here. Ckalco Des Loges could well be an improver but he did look a little fortunate last time and SOURIYAN gains the vote despite the hefty rise he has been saddled with for his Uttoxeter romp. Beau Du Brizais has a chance to set forward with the hopes of Desert Sensation pinned on softer ground and a change of headgear. Ayla’s Emperor has the services of a good young claimer and has a chance to improve on her Fontwell third last time.
