A real likeable character who appears to revel in coming all too late off a fierce pace. However, he loves this track and is in fine fettle at present as he demonstrated when 2L third to Young Tiger over C&D last week. Well handicapped.
Loves Musselburgh, and edged out Hadley and subsequent Newcastle scorer Groundworker when winning in a blanket finish there last month (5f good to firm). Blew his chance with a slow start over C&D last week.
Broke his duck at the 15th attempt when beating Lady Molly by 1¼L at Musselburgh a fortnight ago (5f soft). Raised 4lb and makes his AW debut.
Not the most consistent, but a four time career winner over this trip on turf. Lightly raced on the AW and ran well when fifth to Young Tiger over C&D last week and returns from a 2lb lower mark wearing the first time visor.
Not won since May 2016, and yet to bear fruit on the AW in five previous starts. However, showed more when a close up fourth of 12 to Groundworker over C&D earlier this month (runner up Young Tiger won since; Canford Bay third).
2014 was the scene of her last win (rated 81) and she's had 25 starts since then without looking as though she is going to take advantage of her falling mark. First time blinkers replace the cheek-pieces she tried last time.
Beaten a neck by Camino at Brighton in June (5½f) but doesn't appear the most consistent of performers nowadays. Handicapped to have a major say on his best form, but debatable as to whether or not he retains the zest.
Made all for his sole career success in a Chelmsford nursery (5f) in November 2016. He has been unable to sample further success on turf this year without necessarily being disgraced and returns to the AW for just the third time.
Has left Sally Haynes since her last start at Thirsk in July and is now an eight race maiden. Still early days to be giving up on her, but she needs to be showing some improvement and consistency now switched to the AW.
Seven race maiden who finished 1¼L third to Groundworker over C&D earlier this month (runner up Young Tiger has won since; Imperial Legend fourth). Not able to build on that next time and held by a few of these rivals on that showing.
Veteran who makes his 101st career start (11 time winner). However, he looks vulnerable dropping back to 5f and could well get taken off his feet against some largely in form rivals. Better on turf at Musselburgh.
Not won since July 2016 (5f at Musselburgh), but in all truth will probably pop up from a reduced mark eventually. AW racing might be the way forward after a fair 50/1 fourth to Young Tiger over C&D last week (Ambitious Icarus third).
13 race maiden (previously poor in two attempts on the AW), but got too within 1¼L of Dawoodi at Musselburgh (5f soft) a fortnight ago. Better off at the weights with rider claiming a useful 6lb and sports the first time visor.

Forecasts
Ambitious Icarus (4/1), Canford Bay (5/1), Dawoodi (11/2), Imperial Legend (7/1), Bond Bombshell (12/1), See Vermont (12/1), Little Miss Lola (12/1), Thornaby Princess (12/1), Lady Molly (12/1), Jorvik Prince (12/1), Willbeme (16/1), Archie Stevens (25/1), Dalalah (25/1), Jebel Tara (33/1)
As has been the norm at Newcastle this month, a fast and furious 5f sprint to conclude the action. For AMBITIOUS ICARUS, the others can't go quick enough up front, and this thoroughly likeable character is strongly fancied racing from a very fair mark of 60. This C&D appears ideally suited to his style of running as he's continually demonstrated since the conversion to Tapeta, and he produced another fine effort when beaten a fast diminishing 2L by the improving Young Tiger and fellow Newcastle specialist Windforpower last week.
- Ambitious Icarus
- Bond Bombshell
- Imperial Legend
