Runner up to Mon Beau Visage at Thirsk last month on his penultimate start (1m good), and seemingly didn't cope with the step up in trip at York latest. AW debut.
Solid over 6-7f in 2016, winning four times, and has returned to form lately as he's edged back down the weights. Runner up to Dark Intention at York earlier in the month (7f good to soft), so possibilities on AW bow if staying this trip.
Not won since 2015, but has been performing with credit here this term. Has twice bumped into the improving Auspicion, but definitely handicapped to score from this mark, and was making eye-catching rapid headway after a tardy start over C&D latest.
Hasn't managed to beat a single rival in three starts since taking a 6f Catterick novice stakes at odds of 4/9 in July 2016. Likes to race to the fore and has won on Tapeta at Wolverhampton, but impossible to consider at present.
Probably overburdened by the handicapper since winning at Musselburgh in May (1m good to firm), but was thereabouts from this mark on his penultimate start at Ayr in July (third to Strong Steps). Lightly raced on synthetics.
No match for Mandarin (1m maiden) on his sole visit to Newcastle on debut, but did progress to win at Yarmouth in July under a fine Josephine Gordon ride. Stayed on strongly on his second handicap start latest (third) and mark remains untouched.
Beat a useful rival in El Cap when taking his maiden at Chelmsford in November 2016 (7f) for Richard Hannon. Sold for £11,000 after a low key return in July, but could prove a fair acquisition for this knowledgeable local trainer.
Beaten a neck by Heatongrad at Musselburgh just under a fortnight ago (1m1f soft) on his first start since being gelded. Likes to race prominently, but this looks more competitive, and the suspicion is that he might just struggle. AW debut
Has raced at 6f in the main, so this much longer trip (at a stiff track) doesn't appear ideal. All three career successes have come over that 6f trip, and a proven ability to handle this surface is of no use if you don't stay.
Been around the block in terms of trainers, and won a couple of lower grade 1m2f handicaps for Garry Moss here last winter. Off the track since July and has since left Jo Hughes to join this stable.
Generally performs well at this track, but is very challenging to win with. His sole success in 28 career starts came over C&D in March, but he's been absent since June and this looks plenty competitive enough tonight. Other days lie ahead.

GERRY THE GLOVER was inked very firmly into the notebook when making rapid late progress from off the pace to finish third to Auspicion over C&D earlier in the month. He missed a planned run at Ayr (abandoned), but that's probably for the best as he returns to a track which evidently suits him from a mark which remains untouched (77). Whilst he's not tasted success since 2015, he makes massive appeal from his current mark, and is strongly fancied to score tonight with Cool Team predicted to give him most to think about.
