Really coming to hand now, winning a maiden hurdle over 2m4f at Killarney before swooping late to win his handicap debut at Cork (2m, yielding). Scored a shade cosily that day so 8lb rise may not anchor him with return to 2m4f a plus.
Winner over hurdles at Roscommon (3m1f, good) in early July but no form in four chase starts this season and fared little better when down the field on his return to hurdles at Killarney (2m6f, good) last time. Others preferred.
Dual-purpose performer who scored once over hurdles as a juvenile in 2014 but hasn't been sighted in this sphere since finishing mid-divsion off a higher mark at Roscommon in June. Fit from the Flat and interesting to see Davey Russell booked.
Experienced dual-purpose campaigner whose last win came over fences at Leopardstown nearly two years ago. Was fit from the Flat prior to finishing an encouraging third over hurdles at Listowel (2m, heavy) recently and he looks feasibly-treated.
Sole success came when dead-heating in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown (2m, yielding) getting on for three years ago. Has largely flattered to deceive since then, though capable of getting competitive if putting his best foot forward.
Dual winner on the Flat and progressive over hurdles, landing a third success when scoring over 2m (yielding) at Tramore last month. Ensuing 9lb rise probably not unreasonable but would need this step up in trip to work in his favour.
Point-to-point winner who was third in a Tramore maiden hurdle prior to scoring at Bellewstown (2m4f, good). No match for Fabulous Saga in a novice event at Listowel but remains promising and very much one to consider now switched to a handicap.
Proving very consistent and deservedly opened his account at the 11th attempt when winning a maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan (2m3, soft) earlier this month. Should continue to run well and opening handicap mark looks potentially workable.
Point-to-point winner who progressed to open his account on his handicap debut over hurdles at Clonmel in May 2015 before struggling over fences later that year. Long absence to overcome as he reverts to hurdles, market will guide.
Veteran campaigner with six hurdle wins and a chase success to his name but becoming increasingly hard to win with and could only manage fifth place over 3m at Bellewstown (good) last time. Mark continues to fall though.
Dramatic improvement to win three times over hurdles (from his first four starts) when switched to this yard in the spring of 2016. Handicapper did appear to catch up with him though and hasn't been sighted since a poor run at Clonmel a year ago.
Six-time previous hurdles winner, including over this C&D, but it's more than two years since he last had his head in front. Hard to fancy after pulling up at Kilbeggan (2m4f, soft) last time out.
Yet to score in 11 attempts over timber, his best effort coming when ½L second over 3m at Bellewstown in July. Considered on that sort of form, though a shade below par in two runs since unseating at Galway last month.
More renowned for chasing exploits which have yielded five wins but took advantage of a favourable hurdle mark at Ballinrobe recently when swooping late to edge out Granny Biddy over 2m4f on soft ground. Raised 7lb but remains of interest.
Forecasts
Eiri Na Casca (7/2), Sharps Choice (6/1), Line Out (7/1), St Lawrence Gap (7/1), Theydon Park (7/1), Young Turk (10/1), Courtncatcher (10/1), Theophilus (14/1), Hazariban (16/1), Dysios (20/1), Gladiator King (20/1), Bye Bye O Bye (25/1), Steamboat Bill (25/1), Bridies Boy (50/1)
Competitive stuff but solids ground for keeping on the right side of the hat-trick-seeking LINE OUT despite an 8lb rise for his cosy Cork success as this return to 2m4f looks sure to work in his favour. Fellow recent winners St Lawrence Gap and Eiri Na Casca also merit a place high on an shortlist, whilst Willie Mullins' Sharps Choice doesn't look undly over-burdened on his handicap debut. Fellow handicap debutant Young Turk is also of interest in a good race.
- Line Out
- Eiri Na Casca
- Young Turk
