Picked up two bumpers including one on bottomless ground at Ayr. He fell here on his hurdling debut but has scored since on the Flat and more recently at Cartmel. Made most that day and showed real guts to score, although his jumping was sketchy.

Has made little impact in bumpers and showed temperament by refusing to enter the stalls prior to his last intended start.
Bought for €20,000 as a three-year-old and related to a minor Flat winner. Tailed-off on sole bumper start and he looks one for the future.

Son of Kayf Tara out of a dam who won four races under NH rules and family prefer better ground than forecast here. Shown promise in two bumpers with the latest being a tactical affair which is best ignored. Stable had a double here on Wednesday.

18 race maiden who showed a modest level of form in Ireland and who has been well held on two starts for his new handler. Unlikely he is up to this standard but an ability to handle soft ground is an asset.
£18,000 son of Milan who has landed a point-to-point. Looked in need of the experience when last of seven on his hurdling debut and he may need much further than this.
Bought out of Roger Charlton's yard for 31,000 gns having landed an AW maiden. With a yard that have had one winner and four placed in this from nine runners. The going has to be a concern and the market should be a guide to expectations.
Has clearly been difficult to train as this is just his sixth race in 55 months. Getting him round safe and sound is going to be the main priority.

Interesting given his BHA rating and his form on similar ground. Will appreciate the gallop Golden Jeffrey will set and market will be a clue to his fitness.

Forecasts

Hello Bertie (7/4), Golden Jeffrey (15/8), Trongate (3/1), Snobbery (8/1), Tectonic (12/1), Rossamilan (40/1), Rapid Fritz (40/1), Chasseur De Tete (50/1), Southsea Island (50/1), Shesthebusiness (50/1), Budarri (66/1)

Verdict

The conditions have to be a concern for Snobbery and Hello Bertie who would be expected to profit from the weight they receive from GOLDEN JEFFREY under better conditions. The latter is not a natural jumper yet but is a resolute galloper who scored on heavy ground last winter. He benefitted from some generous allowances to beat a Gordon Elliott hotpot at Cartmel but has been found a good opportunity to follow up. Trongate is another who will cope with the surface. He will come into his own over further but will appreciate the pace that will be set by the selection and looks the main threat if fit and ready.
  1. Golden Jeffrey
  2. Trongate
  3. Snobbery
