Horse A-Z
April foal. Cost €38,000 as a yearling and is a half-brother to three winners, including the useful middle-distance performer Hardstone. Probably more of a longer term prospect, though positive market vibes would be interesting.

Not disgraced on his debut when when finishing fourth at Leicester over 7f (soft) but took a step backwards when well beaten over 6f at Lingfield next time. Still early days and the return to 7f will be appreciated.

Showed distinct promise first time out at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm) when third despite racing keen but couldn't back that up at Thirsk next time. Yard only had one juvenile winner all year so possibly best watched for now.

Purchased relatively cheaply but not disgraced in any of his three starts in this grade over 6f and 7f without taking a significant leap forward. Likely to again run his race but no surprise to see him find at least one too good.

Unfancied and well beaten first time out over 7f at Goodwood (good) earlier this month after running very green. Cost €40,000 as a yearling, so likely there will be more to come from him in time but opposable in the short-term.

A Rock Of Gibraltar filly who cost 22,000 guineas but slowly away and hopelessly outpaced when making a debut over 6f (good) at Ripon last month. Couldn't be backed on that evidence but interesting to see De Sousa booked.

Cheapish yearling purchase who was slowly away on her debut over 7f at Wolverhampton but made late headway to finish midfield. Sure to come on for that and interesting to see how she fares in the market compared to her two stablemates.

April foal. Acclamation filly who makes a racecourse debut in company with two stablemates. Cost 20,000 guineas as a yearling and the market will clearly provide the best guide.

Forecasts

Wilson (4/5), Merkava (9/2), Laytown (12/1), Midas Maggie (12/1), Dashing Dusty (14/1), Kingofthesingers (16/1), Harbour Vision (25/1), Trick Shot Jenny (33/1), Baileys Rockstar (33/1)

Verdict

With none of the newcomers appearing to jump off the page, this race looks at the mercy of Luca Cumani's WILSON who found significant improvement to score with any amount in hand at Brighton earlier in the month. Of the rest, Merkava sets the standard on known form, though Laytown offered plenty to work on with an encouraging introduction at Wolverhampton.
