Runner-up on debut at Newmarket and was hampered when beaten at odds-on at the same track last time. Sets a high standard and is very much the one to beat.

€22,000 purchase as a yearling. Fifth foal and a half-brother to French 1m1f juvenile winner Mirandola. Did not get a clear run when running quite well on debut at Musselburgh and should step up on that display.

Roderic O'Connor colt whose dam won over 6f and 7f. Debut effort at Sandown was not without promise and he has a positive jockey booking.

First-season sire Farhh is doing particularly well and his 40,000 gns son showed distinct signs of promise after being slowly away on debut at Newcastle. May do much better and is one to note in the betting.

Intello colt who cost £55,000 as a yearling. Slowly away and very green on debut at Chester, but got the hang of things late on and did his best work in the final furlong. May need further and looks a long-term prospect.
€20,000 son of promising young sire Elzaam, who is a half-brother to a couple of winners at around 1m. Makes his debut for a stable with plenty of juvenile talent and is well worth a check in the market.

Lope De Vega colt who cost €36,000 as a foal and is a half-brother to three winners. Stable has had juvenile winners this season and any support for this one would be worth noting.

Recks

Second of two runners from a stable boasting some decent juveniles. By the sprinter Reckless Abandon, he cost 40,000 gns as a foal and is a half-brother to six winners. Another worth checking out in the betting.

Last of seven on debut at Nottingham, but shaped better at Leicester last time. Has a middle-distance pedigree and is likely to do better in handicaps next year.

Forecasts

Al Hajar (4/11), Farhh Away (6/1), Echo Cove (9/1), Lineofintelligence (16/1), Recks (16/1), Canadian George (20/1), Rare Groove (20/1), Railport Dolly (33/1), Mametz Wood (50/1), Power Sail (50/1)

Verdict

This revolves around AL HAJAR, who probably only needs to reproduce the level of form of his two starts at Newmarket to take this. If there is to be a serious danger it may come from Farhh Away, who looked a horse with a future at Newcastle and should do much better this time. Canadian George is another possibility, along with Echo Cove, while Mametz Wood, Rare Groove and Recks are worth noting on debut.
  1. Al Hajar
  2. Farhh Away
  3. Canadian George
