Landed this contest off a 2lb lower mark last year and although her last run over hurdles was not her best, she has been running quite creditably on the Flat. If the first-time tongue tie works, she has a solid chance despite joint top weight.
Defied odds of 50-1 when winning a maiden hurdle at this course on her first start for this yard in May. Has been held in handicaps since and may need to come down the weights a few pounds.
Won on her only start for Alexandra Dunn at Stratford in May, but was not at her best on the second of two runs for her current yard last time. Down 2lb, but may need a little more help from the handicapper.
Looked to find the minimum trip too sharp on her debut for this yard at Worcester last month. Should strip fitter and enjoy this longer trip, while the booking of an excellent 7lb claimer is a bonus. Interesting.
Nearest at the finish when second to a well-weighted rival last time and has claims off the same mark. May need a stiffer test of stamina, however.
Has not pulled up any trees for her top stable, so it is interesting that she is persevered with for a second season. Has dropped 2lb since her last run and needs to improve, but the champion jockey is on board so she warrants consideration.
Has won three times in Ireland this year for Gordon Elliott and now tries her luck for a new yard. Likes this sort of trip but is on a career-high mark at the age of nine.
Still without a win in 11 starts over hurdles, but usually runs well and it is that consistency which makes the handicapper reluctant to show any leniency. Looks to have it all to do from a win perspective, but likely to give it a go again.
Only win over hurdles came under this jockey at Stratford in May. Well held recently and needs to drop a few pounds in the weights in order to be competitive.
Has been second on her last three starts and has been punished for that with a 10lb hike in the weights. She is clearly in good heart, but it will be surprising if she is good enough to defy this mark.
Closely matched with Miss Mash on their running at Worcester last time. Runs off the same mark here and has each-way claims.
Has yet to hit the frame in six starts for her in-form stable and connections reach for a tongue tie for the first time. It will need to spark a dramatic improvement for her to get seriously involved.
Three-times Flat winner who has not shown the same aptitude for hurdles. Looked ready for a step up in trip last time, however, and is not totally dismissed.
Forecasts
Miss Mash (13/2), Rebel Yeats (7/1), Fool To Cry (7/1), Fit The Brief (7/1), Keepin Time (7/1), What A Scorcher (8/1), Earth Lady (8/1), Marienstar (17/2), Jazz Thyme (12/1), Milan Of Crystal (16/1), Bitter Virtue (20/1), Distant High (25/1), Station Closed (50/1)
What A Scorcher has bright prospects of repeating her success of a year ago and is respected despite her welter burden, but the selection is FOOL TO CRY, who should be much sharper this time and has an excellent claimer booked to ride. Any money for Earth Lady would be interesting and chances have to be given to the likes of Miss Mash, Jazz Thyme and Milan Of Crystal. Bottom weight Distant High could go well at a big price.
