Smart gelding who has already landed a couple of decent sprint handicaps this year from a yard that have done well in that sphere. Given a tough test last time out in a Group 3 but still needs to find something at these weights.

A C&D winner already this year he's improved since then and ran with credit last time out in a good York handicap (travelled well). Has a little bit to do at the weights here, looks a progressive sort, and should be able to take a hand in this.

In good form in the summer when he landed a couple of conditions races over 5f and has run respectably since although he failed to settle last time out. Most of his best form is on better ground than this though and the soft surface leaves doubts.

A very smart sprinter who has run in some top-class races in his time with all his wins coming over 5f including two over C&D. Not quite firing on all cylinders at the moment since his run at Royal Ascot and could do with a sounder surface.

Won a soft ground handicap earlier in the year off a mark of 77 on soft ground taking advantage of a reduced mark. Not seen to best advantage last time out and faces a stiff task at the weights here.

Forecasts

Alpha Delphini (5/4), Edward Lewis (2/1), Ornate (4/1), Line Of Reason (11/1), Elysian Flyer (20/1), Ziggy Lee (25/1)

Verdict

This probably boils down to four main protagonists with Alpha Delphini and Ornate the best in at the weights although they both would prefer better ground and that leaves the way open for EDWARD LEWIS to regain the winning thread over a C&D he’s been successful over before. If he travels as well as he did last time out at York he could well overcome this test at the weights. Line Of Reason comes from a stable that always need respecting with their sprinters and despite giving weight away to the entire field he still merits some respect here.
