Cost €175,000 as a two-year-old and is a half-brother to a winner up to a mile on dirt in the US Geologist. Market will be the best guide to his chances and the yard has already had 68 juvenile winners this year.

Amongst the greenness that he showed on his debut he offered something to work on and he again showed ability on his second start over this trip. He did look to find that 7f a little inadequate though and will be better returned to a mile.

Got himself back on track last time after a long break over 6f at Catterick coping well with cut in the ground. He still looks a little rough around the edges but this step up to 7f should suit from a yard that have done well with their juveniles of late.

Remains a maiden but produced his best effort to date over a mile on the AW last time out only beaten by a filly (Codicil) who as making it 4/4. Cheekpieces that he wore last time are left off this time as he moves back to novice company and 7f.

From a yard that has struggled to find it's form this year this one has started at big prices on both her starts although she stepped up on her debut to hit the frame last time. Handled the stamina sapping ground last time and could improve again.
Made a very unpromising start to her career at Thirsk over 7f and fared little better on her second start at Redcar and it would be a real shock to see her win this.

Forecasts

Weellan (11/8), Buckstopper Kit (7/2), Mont Kinabalu (7/2), Big Kitten (4/1), Salire (20/1), Shef Wedsneigh (100/1)

Verdict

Big Kitten is a very interesting debutante from the Mark Johnston yard that have a good record with juvenile debutantes over the past year although they are yet to have a winning juvenile on debut in the last five years here (0/24). Buckstopper Kit could really do with a return to a mile with this 7f looking a little short with Weellan having had plenty of chances to get off the mark and MONT KINABALU is given the nod. He looks to be a slow burner but this 7f should suit with a recent run under his belt.
  1. Mont Kinabalu
  2. Weellan
  3. Big Kitten
