Broke his duck over fences at 11th time of asking last month over 2m3½f at Downpatrick, readily coming clear to do so, and could have plenty more in the tank having had confidence boosted.
Tramore specialist, winning three most recent starts over fences at that venue, ranging from 2m to 2m5f, not quite as productive elsewhere, but cannot be ruled out in current mood.
Record in first four starts over fences uninspiring, beaten 16½L in first handicap at Sligo last month and since unseated early on at Kilbeggan when upped in distance, which hardly increases the appeal. Others readily preferred.
Won five times over fences last season, causing rating to shoot up to career-high mark starting into this campaign. Unable to land a blow in seven chase starts since May, but mark is now slipping back towards being workable.
Winner of two from seven chase starts, most recently in December at Navan (2m1f, soft to heavy) from a mark of 105. Was poor there in April over 2m4f and off since - has won fresh before and not to be ruled out.
Form in beginners' chases last season leaves him with plenty improvement to find now going handicapping, was in decent form over timber in the spring, returns from 176-day break now.
Forecasts
William Du Berlais (15/8), Flemenstorm (7/2), Teacher's Pet (5/1), Capture The Drama (5/1), Line View (7/1), The Church Gate (9/1)
Having got a first win last time out at Downpatrick, WILLIAM DU BERLAIS could have a bit more to offer here despite a 9lb hike. Enda Bolger's charge readily pulled clear of the field last time and a repeat of that effort is liable to see him double up. Line View is also in excellent heart and rates a danger despite the fact he appears to save his best stuff for Tramore while Capture The Drama, a five-time winner over fences last season, has slipped to a very workable mark if able to recapture his best stuff.
- William Du Berlais
- Line View
- Capture The Drama
