Won over this trip before now and has to be respected from just a 3lb higher mark. Needs to better his last two outings but likely to have ground conditions to suit and merits plenty of respect despite conceding weight all round.

Shown plenty of promise since tackling fences and may well improve for this step up in trip. is prone to the odd mistake, however, and needs to show these obstacles plenty of respect.

C&D winner in April but has gone off the boil since. Possible the return to Plumpton will help him get back on an even keel, so worth a check in the betting at least. Wouldn't want any rain to get into the ground though.

Unexposed over fences and was going the right way until falling last time out. Visor persevered with today and would be vary dangerous to underestimate. Big chance if not affected by his mishap over the stiff fences at Southwell.

Forecasts

Doitforjoe (7/4), Fair To Middling (9/4), Fort Gabriel (5/2), Little Windmill (13/2), Velvet Cognac (8/1)

Verdict

There could be mileage to be gain in siding with FAIR TO MIDDLING, who has shaped with plenty of promise over fences and will be a touch cookie if he has suffered no after affects after falling last time out. Velvet Cognac represents a yard that has a very good record here (won the last two renewals) and could be solid alternative. Fort Gabriel stays well but faces a tough assignment under top weight, so course specialist Little Windmill may be best of the rest.
  1. Fair To Middling
  2. Velvet Cognac
  3. Little Windmill
