15,000 gns yearling by Mastercraftsman out of Miss You Too (1m2f Listed winner). Gelded ahead of his racecourse debut, and his trainer has made Newcastle a relatively happy hunting ground since the introduction of Tapeta.

4/1
7,000 gns yearling who has improved to hit the frame on his last two starts, most latterly when beaten 2+L by the promising Chrisellaine over 7f here last week. Stamina to prove, but is a half-sister to 1m AW winner Dreaming Of Paris.

10/1
Unraced Makfi filly out of a Galileo mare (Manoeuvre). Sixth foal who is seemingly bred to be more effective over middle distances, and whilst this is a stiff mile, its fair to point out that her trainer saddles very few newcomer juvenile winners.

Horse silk
5/2
17,000 gns yearling. Sixth foal by High Chaparral out of Cosmodrome. A half-sister to 7f winner Lovell. Finished tamely after racing prominently (sixth) on debut at Salisbury (7f maiden fillies stakes) earlier this month.

Forecasts

Losingmyreligion (6/4), Snax (5/2), Champarisi (4/1), Te Koop (17/2), Cheeky Kiki (10/1), Sunhill Lad (50/1)

Verdict

A moderate turnout, and a race which looks likely to be providing few positive form clues for the future. However, there has to be a winner, with Champarisi respected following a couple of improved efforts. Stamina might well be a concern for her over this extra furlong, and the same can be said of SNAX. However, with Salisbury maidens often throwing up a plethora of future winners, the Mark Johnston trained filly is the preferred play at the projected odds tonight.
  1. Snax
  2. Champarisi
  3. Te Koop
