Consistent since joining this trainer, and was a winner over this trip at Clonmel in June (good to yielding). Climbed the weights without winning since, but has posted some solid efforts in defeat, most notably at Bellewstown and Kilbeggan.
20L winner of a Tipperary maiden hurdle for Niall Madden in May (2m good), and joined the Mullins ranks swiftly thereafter. Not quite up and running for new connections as of yet, and tries a longer trip for just her second start in a handicap.
Regular visitor to England/Scotland, and has won three races across the Irish Sea; most latterly over fences at Cartmel (June). The handicapper probably has her measure over hurdles at present and she needs to better her July effort at Downpatrick.
A mare with plenty of stamina and a proven ability to handle testing ground. She was seeking a hat-trick when disappointing at Listowel recently, and it's a slight worry that a busy spell coupled with another 5lb rise has taken its toll.
6L winner of a good ground 2m4f+ Sligo maiden hurdle in August, but has done okay since upped in grade, running well to finish just under 10L third to the Willie Mullins trained Contingency at Galway on Monday (2m5f soft).
C&D maiden hurdle winner in September 2016, but has been a fraction in and out since then. Ran well to be 4L third to Manuka over 2m6f (good) here in July, but less pleasing since.
Course winner (2m1½f yielding, August 2016), but her form since then has largely left a lot to be desired. She ran well when third at Tramore in August, but folded very quickly next time at Clonmel. Tough to assess and stamina a worry.
Not able to break her duck in eight attempts (four over hurdles), but evident enough that she has ability and should be capable of winning a race with cut sooner rather than later. Far from fully exposed in handicaps.
Forecasts
Tay Lane (11/4), Nellie Pledge (3/1), Just Janice (4/1), Kilganer Queen (7/1), Good To Flow (8/1), Freedom Statue (14/1), Pursecco (14/1), Verona Opera (16/1)
Just eight runners in the line up, but a tricky race to assess nevertheless. There must surely be better to come from Tay Lane given the manner of her demolition job at Tipperary on her final start for Niall Madden, whilst Kilganer Queen would have held much more appealing claims without a recent below par showing at Listowel on her CV. Just Janice is thoroughly likeable, but perhaps just a fraction too high in the weights, so a real chance is taken on the eight race maiden and bottom weighted mare GOOD TO FLOW. She looks capable of finding a winning opportunity over hurdles sooner rather than later, and the forecast testing conditions might just prove to be a real leveller for her.
- Good To Flow
- Tay Lane
- Just Janice
