2014 was the scene of her last win (rated 81) and she's had 24 starts since then without looking as though she is going to take advantage of her falling mark. Cheekpieces now go on for the first time but not well drawn fir her usual pace setting role.

Has fallen back down the weights since the heady heights of his win at Sandown in 2015 and showed his best form for while at Carlisle in a 0-80 in July having the run of the race. Has run poorly in two starts since and into a 0-60 for the first time with new headgear on.

Not that well drawn for an out-and out front runner but doesn't face much competition for the lead here and has won over C&D. Bounced back to form on his penultimate start over 1m1f at Hamilton but merely underlined his inconsistency by running poorly last time.

Had the look of one who might be able to improve beyond this lowly grade when winning a Redcar dominating a large field over 6f. Two starts since then haven't gone as well but he didn't quite get the run of things last time out at Newcastle.

An easing mark and a return to the AW may well have been the catalysts for his last win in May over a mile. Has never really backed that run up off higher marks on turf or AW but at this lowly he's player having run in a better grade last time.

Formerly very useful around here (three-time course winner) but has reached the veteran stage now and its two years since his last win. Showed that he may just have a little bit to offer based on his last start but couldn't rely on that fact.

Bred to stay this far but despite that fact her sole win so far came over 5f on the Tapeta at Newcastle off a mark of 53. Hasn't really kicked on from that run though and has looked out of sorts of late and now back up in trip.

Forecasts

Champion Harbour (5/2), State Residence (5/2), Willbeme (11/2), Riponian (6/1), Jebel Tara (8/1), Little Kingdom (9/1), Palindrome (10/1), Twistsandturns (10/1), Coral Princess (12/1), Mercers Row (14/1), Jacob Black (20/1), Breathoffreshair (20/1)

Verdict

Last year’s winner Riponian looks to have a decent chance of repeating his win although he’s not the most consistent and comes here off the back of a moderate run but with an easy lead he would be dangerous. There are quite a few of these who have shown better form in the past and any of Willbeme, Jacob Black and Jebel Tara could bounce back although you would have to ignore some poor form to support them. Champion Harbour has one of the more solid profile but STATE RESISDENCE gets the nod overall as he has the look of one who could improve out of this grade. If there is one that is interesting at a bigger price then it’s Palindrome for the Marjorie Fife team who are very good with this sort and he should be watched in the market.
  1. State Residence
  2. Champion Harbour
  3. Palindrome
