Gained his first win since recording a hat-trick when winning at Goodwood two starts back (won in the stewards' room). Fine efforts in defeat either side of that and effective with cut in the ground so should run well again with Moore in the saddle.

Has won twice from eight starts but has been below his best on his last couple of efforts in softer ground. Conditions would have to be a concern again here but obvious claims if he handles them and less exposed than most in here.

In good form last year, winning three of his six starts and returned to form last time when fourth of 14 in a valuable handicap at York. Ran well on only attempt on soft ground and drop back in trip probably in his favour; should run well.

Has run well on all five of his starts this year but only won once and he disappointed when favourite last time at Yarmouth. Ran okay in sole start on soft ground at Haydock earlier in the year; can't be dismissed with useful claimer in the plate.

Forecasts

Another Eclipse (5/2), Dark Red (5/2), Euginio (11/4), Al Neksh (3/1), Oasis Fantasy (8/1)

Verdict

DARK RED may be more exposed than most in the field here but he'll find this contest easier than his more recent assignments and the fact Ryan Moore returns can only bolster his chance. Another Eclipse looks the most likely of the David Simcock pair and he gets the services of talented apprentice George Wood. However, there's a suspicion we still haven't seen the best of Al Neksh and the drop back in trip could help him get his head back in front; he could be the main danger to the selection.
  1. Dark Red
  2. Al Neksh
  3. Another Eclipse
