16 runs and two years since last victory but has been threatening to end that barren spell soon. Has produced two good efforts recently under this rider and no reason to think he cannot give another good account.

Winner at Haydock in June from 6lb lower mark. Has performed creditably off revised marks since and he will find this less competitive. Acts with cut in the ground.

2-2 under this rider and won more cosily than the margin suggests last time. Handles the ground and a 6lb penalty looks manageable. Stable took this last year.

Back down to the mark which brought him a success here over 7f in June. Only 1-13 at this trip but many of those efforts have come in stronger races than this.

Both wins have come with plenty of give underfoot. Third to a well-supported runner last time and a further drop in the weights helps. Rider good value for his claim and he looks sure to be in the mix once again.

Best run of this term came over this trip on a soft surface. Has been campaigned over further since but faces classier rivals than he is accustomed to meeting.

Goring (11/4), The Daley Express (7/2), Major Valentine (4/1), Clear Spring (9/2), Letmestopyouthere (5/1), Glory of Paris (6/1), Signore Piccolo (6/1)

Verdict

Clear Spring and Letmestopyouthere are on attractive marks in this but both are on long losing runs. Signore Piccolo has conditions to suit and this looks easier than his recent races, but his yard are going through a quiet spell. Major Valentine usually gives his running but his latest effort was a few pounds below his best and raises questions as to whether he is feeling the effects of a busy campaign. There is no doubting he nicely treated here in relation to THE DALEY EXPRESS as he meets him on 12lb better terms for beating him two months ago. That rival was having just his second run of the campaign that day and different tactics have produced significant improvement since and we believe THE DALEY EXPRESS is capable of going in again.
  1. The Daley Express
  2. Clear Spring
  3. Signore Piccolo
