Fisherman Frank¹⁸²

Age: 6| Weight: 10-12| J: David Bass| T: M Blake

11/1

Last seen pulled-up in the champion bumper at Cheltenham in March which turned out to be a fibrillating heart. Comes with a warning on hurdling debut.

Form: 26/61P-

Mackie Dee^h¹²⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: Henry Brooke| T: J Mackie| OR: 108

33/1

Well beaten on all four starts last season and no improvement on seasonal debut at Carlisle in May. Others preferred coming back from a break.

Form: 0733-3

Or De Vassy¹⁷⁴

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| BF

6/4

Rock-solid form in four bumpers last season. Can be expected to improve on his hurdling debut here for inform and powerful trainer/jockey combination.

Form: 3222-

Royal Escape¹⁴²

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: Aidan Coleman| T: J & A O'Neill

16/1

Getaway gelding purchased for €40,000 as a three-year-old in 2015. Hung right on debut in a Warwick bumper in April. Interesting to gauge development over the summer but others preferred here.

Form: 5-

Special Prep^t⁴³

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: B S Hughes| T: Miss P Robson| OR: 110

9/2

Winner of two point-to-point contests in April the five-year-old shaped well in Perth maiden hurdle in early August with first-time tongue-tie which remains here.

Form: 21-1343

The Welsh Paddies¹⁷⁹

Age: 5| Weight: 10-12| J: N D Fehily| T: Christian Williams

9/1

Won on debut at Ffos Las in November but disappointed in two subsequent bumpers at Newbury and here in March. Others make more appeal.

Form: 173-

Equus Amadeus¹²⁷

Age: 4| Weight: 10-11| J: R Johnson| T: T Lacey

11/4

Made steady progress in the spring culminating with a win in an Exeter bumper over 2m1f. Worth a check in the betting on hurdling debut.

Form: 33-1

Jonjoela²⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 10-5| J: C Gethings⁽³⁾| T: Tracey Leeson| OR: 95

125/1

Well beaten and no impression on two hurdle starts last month and difficult to see the improvement needed here to figure at the business end of the contest.

Form: 42-1D44

Non-Runners

Whiskey Baron¹²

Weight: 10-12| Age: 5

T: A Wintle J: Benjamin Poste

Forecasts

Or De Vassy (6/4), Equus Amadeus (11/4), Special Prep (9/2), The Welsh Paddies (9/1), Fisherman Frank (11/1), Royal Escape (16/1), Mackie Dee (33/1), Whiskey Baron (50/1), Jonjoela (125/1)

Special Prep has been known to make the running in a couple of contests in the past, but his tactics could be usurped by Jockey-Harry Skelton who may decide to take OR DE VASSEY to the front early on in the contest and try to make all. The Tom Lacey-trained Equus Amadeus will be interesting on hurdling debut with the booking of Richard Johnson significant.
